Robot Building for Beginners, Third Edition (Technology in Action)

great book - takes you from zero to a project, step by step. a bit technical in the language, so it requires some "translation" to work through with younger children (I'm going through it with my 7 year old). But it is very thorough, and is a great starter book. I'd recommend getting the kit from Solarbotics to go with it as well (link for kit is in the book).

I was hoping for a little more, but it does explain the project very well and is aimed at complete beginners. Lots of so called beginner books either never really get anywhere or start at level that's beyond beginner. It's a hard line to draw when you're writing about an advanced subject that requires knowledge of several areas.

I would have liked some longer explanations and some color pictures to help along the way, but it is still a great book.

The information is great, but the font size is 8 or 9 for the entire text except headings. Even with glasses, it was tedious to read due to the small print. If a normal 12pt is available, I'll gladly trade.

Love it

After reading it a couple of times I learn a lot of the basis on the electronics. The knowledge that I got from the bookit was not only super useful for the robotic field itself, but also, afterward I realize that I've started to repair a lot of things at home (from the toys of my boy through the hardware of my computer). I am really thankful to the authors for write this nice book. Now, I am reading the intermediate robot building book (very exciting),
