Do you have to cleanse it before use and if so, how?

Yes you should always cleanse any stones, crystals, pendulums, etc, before use. It does not mean that the sender is of bad energy; however, you want your items to be of your very own energy. Works best that way! To cleanse you can use dragon blood, white sage, or Palo Santo. Any incense of cleansing, your choice! Dangle your pendulum over the sage or incense and allow the smoke to engulf the pendulum. Another option, Leave it out when a full moon is out and let it sit out for 30 min or the whole night. Last option, use your intent and banish any and all unwanted energy from the pendulum. Do so by saying your own mantra, or prayer for banishing negativity while holding the pendulum firmly in your hand. You may want to charge it as well, some people don’t and some do.
