Studio Ghibli Films Collection Hayao Miyazaki 17 Movies English Language Tracks

This is what am looking at as I open the box.This should not have been sold as brand new. Some of the disc are already scratched.

These movies skip huge sections.. almost as if they copied off another DVD.. absolutely a waste of money I wish some one had warned me.. buy these if you don’t mind not seeing the entire movie

All the film's play and have both English and Japanese dubs with English subtitles but some of the subtitles are synched to the English dub so you get opening narration for "Up on Poppy Hill" that goes to the English language dub but no Japanese narration to go with it. Also it appears that the early film's are transferred from a VHS tapes based on artifacting and scanlines, the the transfer also appears to be from the English tapes or sources because it only lists the English actors. The films' that have had Disney releases have the Disney opening but none of the bonus features. The subtitles are similar to the Disney version but where they differ is the Disney subs are usually two lines where this cut uses one line so a few lines exceed the screen width and get cut off. Another odd quirk is that the English language subtitles are sometimes listed as ***. If you view the photos you will see subtitles cut off in Princess Mononoke, the weird *** subtitles listing in My Neighbors the Yamatas and the last two comparing the Disney two line subtitles to this versions one line.

Arrived sooner than expected, which was great. The product itself is good quality, the case is fantastic and the discs look good as well, including the images on the front of the disc. The quality of the films themselves seems perfectly okay to me, no stuttering that I noticed, no real blurriness or video issues on the 3 or 4 films we've watched thus far. I do want to mention that subtitles seem to stay on as a default, so you must turn them off each time you go to start the film, as even in English, the subtitles differ slightly from the spoken words, unless you prefer the Japanese audio obviously. All in all, I'm quite happy with it, despite the subtitle annoyance. If this is a bootleg, it's a very good one, and for me, worth the price.

I got this in the mail today and am currently watching it. It's definitely a knock off. I own 4 of the movies bought from a regular store and the picture quality is not as good. Also the DVD menu looks "cheap" and has no special features. I have no problems with the dubbing or sound quality on these. Although I'm able to tell this is a knock off, I'm very happy with this purchase, mostly because I was expecting it to be a knock off when I placed my order. The price is great for 17 movies, and having three movies on one disc is convenient. And even though the picture quality is not as great as the originals, it's not bad either. As long as you're not expecting to get originals and not a collector, you won't be angry about this purchase. They're still enjoyable. If you are an avid fan there's other collections for more money, if you just want to watch some fun movies, I think it's not a bad deal.

I should have known this was bootleg considering the price. I bought this set for me and my daughter to watch over the years. Spirited Away worked fine all the way through. I recently tried to play Kiki's Delivery Service and the disc wouldn't work at all. I tried it in three different dvd players and it didn't work in any of them. I then tried all the other discs and none of them worked. They probably only made the spirited away one work because that's what people are going to watch first.It's a good thing this item isn't available anymore because they are ripping people off. If it becomes available again, DO NOT BUY! You're wasting your money.

Has a bootleg appearance to it and all the discs look exactly the same with no indication of what's on them. Luckily the discs are numbered so you can look at the back of the box to figure out what's on them. The menu is difficult to navigate and like mentioned before it looks very bootleg. If you want functional this works, but if you want beautiful this is not your product.

I have always loved these movies, and to have a complete collection is amazing, its a great item and a must buy for any fan of the creator, but i also must warn you, the picture above does not do this set justice, the version of the cover art i received states that it is a limited edition version, its pictures are gold and showcase a few of the favorited movie covers, i love it way more then the coat of arms style shown, buy as soon as possible because as stated it is the "limited" edition, and well worth it.Furthermore the seller was professional, sending it as soon as possible and it came way faster then expected, perfect performance for the holidays.
