Help Your Self
Kelly encourages to be the "best versions" of ourselves, to take control of our lives. He employs a wide variety of techniques to show us how--parables, philosophical reflections, personal confession, appeals to common sense, examples of great famous lives, and "how-to" tips for prayer, meditation, and developing good habits. While I'm not sure he's breaking a lot of new ground, he's easy to understand, intelligent, challenging and persuasive. His values and his suggestions make enormous sense, especially when he advises us to spend less time on doing and more time on being. If you feel like you're drifting through life, this book could be great medicine!

Each of us can do one thing better than any other person alive at this moment in ...
LIVE A LIFE UNCOMMON!To not read this book is to rob yourself of a life lived more meaningfully and more passionately. Matthew Kelly is more than a genius. A man with unmatched intelligence and a heart and spirit to match. At the age of 31, he has the clarity, wisdom, and insight to break through directly to the heart of the matter and enlighten us with the truth. Life is not about doing and having. Life is about being. 'Who you become is infinitely more important than what you do or what you have.' I have read the book four times and appreciate everything in my life more because of it. Every person, every relationship, every day, every breath! When you know what life is all about, you know the right answer to every question asked. When you know what life is about, you know what you should dedicate your time to. When you know what life is about, focusing comes naturally. 'Dedicate yourself to the things that deserve your dedication.' Matthew Kelly explains that the purpose of life is for us to become the-best-version-of-ourselves. The world doesn't need another Mother Theresa, the world doesn't need another Tiger Woods, the world needs you! Each of us can do one thing better than any other person alive at this moment in history. Matthew Kelly encourages us to discover our genius. My review doesn't even scrape the surface of the marvels of this book. READ THIS BOOK! There is not a person on this earth who wouldn't benefit from Matthew's incomparable message.

CHOICE?
Matthew Kelly does not need more deserving accolades from me. I give them anyway and for sure this is a five star book. But there are some lingering questions I have that I think he needs to address. Rather than write volumes of a review I will focus mostly on those questions in a somewhat random manner. On the idea that life is choices, does a three year old choose to be molested? Does an infant choose to be decapitated by mentally ill adults set on revenge toward each other (called collateral damage by some)?Regarding the use of the word illusion, this works both ways and the illusion of value from hype artists needs to be addressed in terms of what is their set of values? This is complex as even the author implies that there is a value placed on how we need to be.On one hand the author says, “We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, remind us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the-best version-of-ourselves” yet on the other hand he talks of we long to be that someone who can listen without trying to fix, change, or move the other person. This dichotomy needs to be clarified. For sure I liked Kelly’s comments on discernment. Discernment is a critical word. In my experience synthetic telepathy interferes with discernment. The author points out how all the bombardment of advertising etc., in a similar way to synthetic telepathy, as interfering with our discernment in living who we are. For sure as Matthew says we cannot make decisions in a vacuum. When the tax payer funded oligarchy occult mind-control puppets say, “I own your soul” this may well in my experience mean, based on Kelly’s thesis, that they own/owned my journey. This taken from Kelly’s slogan, “The Journey of the Soul.”Loved Matthew’s comments on “being” includes consisting not only of who you are now, but also of who you are capable of becoming at any moment in the future. Having said that, I often wondered throughout the book, since all is illusion, how much of what he presents is his own wishful thinking or illusion? As the author says, “The image is an illusion. The light is truth.” When the author says, “A person who is completely dedicated to the light is capable of anything” now the question, is that an illusion? The demarcation between what is illusion and what is not is not easy to discern. On the comment “…embrace your God.” This is an interesting statement here because the author has defined God in other sentences. Here is he calling God each person’s ultimate reality as they each see it?Enough questions, you get five stars and the book is highly recommended.

Excellent book for personal growth!!
Excellent book! This should be a required read for people of all ages! I read this book over and over before actually copying pages and taping them to my wall. I purchased a copy for my husband and a copy for each of my kids. My intent is for my children to read this when then get out of high school then again in college then again after college and again and again. I am 40 years old and this book has helped change my life for the better. I can’t imagine what it would have done for me if I read it when I was 25 years old. Matthew Kelly discusses such basic principals in this book but he takes everything so deep that it hits your soul. I was able to refocus my life as a wife, mom, and professional. I felt it gave me courage to know becoming the best version of myself wasn’t something out of reach but very reachable day by day step by step. Thank you Matthew Kelly from me and my whole family.

I read a lot of personnal development books, but i never saw a vision as profound as the one of the author. Combining growth around life passion, spirituality, relationship, health, with a clear analyse of our civilisation, this is a master piece.
