DELICIOUS EGGS! I love this gadget!
This Microwave Egg Boiler is the coolest thing! I don't know how $14.65 could possibly buy more joy! It works perfectly! The eggs never taste like they were cooked in a microwave. They actually taste better than when I boil eggs in a large stock pot on the stove. Now I enjoy perfectly hard boiled eggs every day. The best part is the eggs are super easy to peel, and they taste so much better when eaten immediately. We used to boil a couple dozen eggs and eat them throughout the week. By day #2 they were already cold and rubbery. But this Microwave Egg Boiler makes cooking hard boiled eggs so fast and easy that I now cook them "to order" so to speak. When I want hard boiled eggs, they're done in 9 minutes, and I eat them immediately. All you have to do is, after removing the cooked eggs from the microwave, place them in a cold water bath for 30 seconds. Then they're ready to eat. They're still a little warm, but not hot by any means. And the egg is so tender, fresh, and delicious that way. The instructions do a great job of recommending cooking times based on your microwave's wattage, but you may want to tweak that a little. If the yolks are a little soft for your taste, add a minute to the cooking time. No big whoop. TIP: Use "medium" eggs. Don't use extra-large eggs. Think about it. This thing is designed to hard boil "typical" eggs. If you put extra-large eggs in there, it takes longer to cook the center, and by that time the outside is over-cooked. If you use medium eggs, the recommended cooking times (based on microwave wattage) will be much more reliable. Here's what I do... I put 4 medium eggs in the cooker, mic on high for 9 minutes, and when the timer goes off, I leave the microwave door closed for 2 minutes. This is the recommended "cooling down" time in the instructions so that you don't try to open the cooker when there is still too much steam inside. By keeping the door closed for 2 minutes, the eggs continue to cook a little more during the cool-down period. Think of it as putting them on "simmer." Then, after the 2 minutes, put the eggs right into a cold water bath for 30 seconds. So the total cooking time, for me, using a 1,000-watt microwave, is 11 minutes (9 minutes on high, plus 2 minute cool-down period). Perfect eggs! Every time! One more thing... If you take your Microwave Egg Cooker to work and use it in your break room, you will never have a shortage of conversation. EVERYBODY will want one, and they will have a thousand questions. When people see it, they're mesmerized by the clever design. I couldn't be happier with this thing.

So great just ordered 2nd one!
Received this yesterday and tried it out this morning with 4 eggs. My micro is 1200 watts and the instructions only cover 600, 800 & 1K watts. First attempt at 8 minutes (per instructions for 1K watts and hard boiled) was not enough for hard boiled and too long for soft. Yolks are not 'hard' boiled, but aren't runny either. Some sections of yolk gooey/sticky and still bright yellow while other portions of yolk are a bit more dense. After reading reviews I knew it might take a few attempts to get them right for me, but the first batch isn't so bad it can't be eaten. Whites cooked great and shells peeled like magic.Second attempt, again 4 eggs but for 10 minutes this time. PERFECT hard boiled; easily shelled. Holy Cow, Batman! Where has this been all my life?I love it so much after these initial attempts, I just ordered a second one. I need 7+ eggs at a time, so now that I know it works so well, I'm going to experiment with 2 units in the micro at same time and work out the timing for that also. The unit does get HOT - make no mistake. And on occasion boiling water sizzles out of the top 'vent hole'. My lid doesn't 'snap' on as indicated in the instructions. No 'snap' to it; it just sits there, but does stay in place. If yours is that way, be very careful removing it from the micro. The lid can tip over and some boiling water may splash or roll down your fingers. I gave up with the potholders to remove it from the micro. I now use two of my larger 'rubber husbands'...you know ladies, those silicone/rubber palm-sized things that help you open tough jar lids. I have some from years back that are larger than my hand and in the shape of a gorilla - pink gorillas. One in each hand protects my hands from the heat of this unit, steadies it, and doesn't let it slip even if wet. Great for removing the lid to run eggs under cold water too.Clean up is a snap. Even with one egg cracking while cooking, no mess. Now that I think about it, I'm going to edit my order and get some for holiday gifts for my lazy brothers!!!!!Edit: Aug 13, 2009. OOPS! Tried putting 2 in the micro simultaneously to figure out how long it would take to hard boil 8 eggs total. Put micro on for 20 minutes and after 4 minutes, the micro blew! Well, not exactly blew UP, but stopped completely. When I tried resetting, no power. I unplugged unit from wall to check connection and the cord was HOT: the entire cord. When I touched the metal prongs I actually burned my fingers. Can't explain it, but I've never had this happen ever before with a microwave. Think I'll stick to one egg cooker at a time and just rotate them. I never did like putting metal in the micro. Maybe it just got too hot to handle.

Do not put in dishwasher
Does a great job of cooking the eggs, but the paperwork says OK for top shelf in a dishwasher. It's not. It warped so doesn't close completely (the poacher) so I have to put a plate on top of it in the microwave. Other than that, is a great add to the microwave cooking set.

Works, and Makes Peeling Easy
I had just about given up on making hard boiled eggs due to the hassle, and especially the impossible task of peeling the egg without a lot of the white of the egg coming off too. I tried every hint I could find for peeling the eggs, but nothing worked. However, with this microwave cooker, the eggs peel easily and quickly. I don’t know why, but it has worked well, consistently. Also, I don't have to worry about how long to cook the eggs. It comes out right every time. Only word of warning, is that the container is very hot when you take it out of the microwave and contains boiling water, so use a towel or hot pads.

Bom

Cute and effective!
These little guys do my eggs perfectly. I live on a sailboat, so not a lot of space to be messing with frying pans, etc... Put my eggs in the unit, following instructions, and 2 minutes later I'm eating great eggs! I am the eggman...
