Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year - Playstation 3
I bought this PS 3 version based on the excellent reviews. First I want to thank you all for giving the pluses and minuses. Now first let me say that although I have played PC games since Adventure (those that know will tell you it was first or certainly one of very few that started PC gaming). That said I'm not a young player, probably one of the oldest. I went into this game because I love Westerns, especially the old Spaghetti Westerns. I wasn't disappointed. The fantastic graphics, sound effects, and music make this worth the money alone if you just want to see and hear the old West. I have only played this for a couple days so far (so many hours the first day I paid for it in my joints) and here are my pros and cons so far.Pros:Great value for the moneyExceptionally gorgeous scenery, graphics of people, animals, and environment are amazingly realisticRealism and variety of all weather conditions is phenomenalSound effects for weather, animals, and other environmental sounds make you feel you're thereNumerous voices in dialogue, monologues, and background chatterIncredible depth of possible exploration and open game playMost controls you will use to interact aren't difficult to master (walking, riding, shooting, etc.)You can play this the way you want to play it and survive most the time (one example is you get by okay by just picking plants, hunting, and skinning and then selling what you hunt and gather)Great fun majority of the timeCons:Some of the quests are difficult, at least for people with any physical restrictions (Not everyone has played with gaming controllers since they were three with proficiency), and sometimes it has grated my nerves completing themYou must complete certain quests or it will impact your overall honor, abilities, reputation, monetary gain, and store pricesIt is difficult to avoid fights and animal attacks (most won't want to but some may like to play the game without that being in it)Blood spatter on most of the animal skinning is overdone (Splatters all over the screen)Dialogue isn't for youngsters and annoyingly repetitious sometimes (Play Blackjack at Thieves Landing and you will see what I mean)GRIZZLIES DON"T RUN IN PACKS (Can't tell you the times I got hit by 3 plus at the same time.)!!!!!!Summary:Overall I absolutely love it, but once in awhile I hate it. That won't stop me from playing but there are times I wish I could switch off certain aspects of the critical quests that force me to chew gum, rotate a hula hoop on my hips, balance a plate on a stick on my nose, swallow a sword, and recite the Gettysburg Address at the same time. In other words unless you are a ambidextrous game controller God you're in a world of hurt some of the time.CA Luster

I don't understand how you can't love this game?
I'll throw it out there.. I DO NOT really enjoy the GTA series. Sure, they are fun to hop around in and wreak havoc on the cities, but really.. just not my bag. I want a little bit more action and adventure and a little less turning a mirror on society. Just not my thing..So, I was REALLY skeptical about liking Red Dead Redemption. Sand-box style questing just wasn't for me I thought..I could not have been more wrong! The gameplay is excellent, with some intense fire-fights, cool "dead-eye" feature and fluid controls once you get the hang of them. I was expecting GTA on a horse, and while there are noticeable similarities, they really went out of their way to make this feel different and like it's own world.Game is beautiful, even though I'm playing it in now 4 years after release, I'm still impressed by the level of detail considering it's age. This goes into cut-scenes which are really well done, have great voice acting and draw you into the story. The expansiveness of the environment, dangers in the wilderness, side quest, etc. are all very very cool and even mostly through the game like I am now, I didn't ever find anything to be TOO repetitive.Even the mini-games are pretty cool...I've spent a couple of hours just sitting there playing texas hold'em or Five Finger Filet and even the dice game. Sounds odd to play on the console, but it helps you in game if you're good enough and even has some little things you can do in the game that will make it feel more like a part of the greater story. I.E. - you can cheat and potentially get caught, etc.Overall, I can't understand how someone could be really disappointed by this game. Maybe not their thing because of the western motif? Sure. But, not appreciate the detail, expanse and overall full variety in this game? I think not.At this price, if you haven't played it before..I highly recommend it.

This game has great graphics, story line, and side quests. It's fun and very entertaining. Sometimes I just play side quests and roam. Worth buying.

Amazing game and great value for money
A great game, one of my favourites. Great story, great gameplay set in an amazing world you can just explore for hours.Great value for money, includes both the original game and the Undead Nightmare expansion pack.Game came in brand new condition and included printed maps, unlike PS4 and PS5 games. Received the game at the beginning of the delivery window. The seller is really nice and helpful. I'll definitely buy from them again.
