Now my 4a/4c natural hair can stay relaxer-free
This is sooo much better than a straightening comb (healthier too). Just one pass through brushed out hair made my coarse, low porosity 4a/4c natural hair MUCH straighter than my $300 Paul Mitchell flat iron. Here are my post-conditioning steps:1) After using a leave-in sealed with coconut oil and a heat protectant (InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Treatment), I also used the Art Naturals detangling hair brush to detangle.2) Then, I ran the AsaVea brush through with my Denman brush, and WOW- it came out unexpectedly silky.Being a natural skeptic and somewhat curious, I decided to try this product solely due to the price point after seeing videos of other naturals using similar brands. The Pros:* The design of the teeth and edges are optimized so your hair will not snag - SUPER important for curly girls. Your hair should practically glide through the teeth if you detangle and hydrate properly. The coarser and kinkier your hair, the more I recommend using another brush while you are passing the AsaVea through the hair.* Lightweight and very easy to forget you're using a heat tool (might not be considered a 'pro' for some, but heat tools are often unnecessarily hefty).*The cord swivels 360 degrees. Enough said! The Cons:* Coupled with its featherweight mass, the burnished finish of the AsaVea brush is so smooth that it lends itself to slipping if you have greasy hands.... and, yes, heat protectants can make your hands oily! Note to manufacturer: It might be a good idea to add silicone grips on the handle like you see on certain smartphone cases)*There's no visual number to see just how hot your heat settings are, which is very important no matter your hair texture, but even more so when you have natural or fine hair susceptible to permanent heat damage. The package insert does explain the measurements in more detail, but it would be convenient to have a visual indicator in case this info is ever lost.Never thought I'd actually find something to successfully straighten my very coarse, kinky hair without damaging it.It takes so ungodly long to do my thick, kinky hair every weekend that I even considered going back to relaxers. The incessant fairy knots I get no matter what didn't help either. That's why I'm glad I found something that finally works.P.S. In my photos I actually braided my hair right after to get a loose wavy look, so that's why it's not stick-straight.However, you can see the change in texture as I draw the Denman brush through after using the AsaVea tool. I would highly recommend it to any African-American/Black women trying to straighten hard-to-manage natural hair without burning or heat damage to your sensitive curls & kinks.

Completely worth EVERY single penny!!
****UPDATE**** 3/10/17, it is just a few days shy of the 12 month mark that I have used this brush and I STILL love it. I had an issue about the 11 month mark and I thought it might be a lost cause since I had it for so long, but 11th City the seller got back with me right away and remedied the issue very quickly. For their WONDERFUL customer service alone, I could and would recommend this brush to anyone, AND on top of that fact it does work awesome!!With that being said, after almost a year, I have some pointers/advice:- When using it on "day old" hair, make sure youcomb it out really well and try not to use it if you have a lot of hairspray buildup! It gets all gunky and it's not the easiest thing to keep clean between the teeth of the combs.- A few months after I got it, I cut my hair from below my shoulders to right above my shoulders. I can say that while it did ok on my shorter hair, and worked waayyy better on my longer hair. It is easier to use and I have better results when my hair is longer.-This is still the ONLY styling tool I bring with me when I travel. For me personally it just works on whatever state my hair happens to be in. No longer do I travel with a big bulky blow dryer, a straightener, and/or hot air brush. I can go to bed with my hair wet and style my hair with this in the morning and it truly look is good! Surprising I know, but does make for easier traveling! I am a little OCD and everything has to be put away when I am done with it, but this stays out on my counter 24/7!- Try to be more diligent than I was and clean between the teeth of the combs every couple of weeks if you can. It will make it a lot easier to maintain in the long run!Have fun with it, try different styles, be like me and finally "let your hair down" instead of wearing of that curly mop in a pony tail all of the time. LOLStill love my brush one year later and would never want to be without it!*******************************************************This is a long review, but has good information from a VERIFIED purchase! I am not one of those lucky people who got this straightening brush for free or at a discounted rate, I paid for this 100% with my own hard earned money, and let me tell you – it was money WELL spent! I have fine curly hair that frizzes easily and not all of my curls are the same – some are wavy and some are downright kinky (weird combo). Anyway, I usually choose to wear my hair curly because it takes so much time to flat iron it and to make it look nice without any crimps in it, and when I do take the time to do it I’m not always 100% satisfied with it.I have been on the search high and low for a better alternative to a traditional flat iron and THIS is the ticket for sure, it is the answer to my prayers by a long shot. I used to try and clumsily use the “chaser” method of following the flat iron after a comb to get my hair neat and I can’t tell you the times I’ve burned myself or even melted the comb. I even tried one of those straightening brushes that are all the rage right now, and while it did straighten my hair exceptionally well – that brush left the ends of my hair raggedy looking and ripped handfuls of my hair out while using it. I only lose a couple of strands of hair using this brush/comb from doing my whole head, and it’s less than what I experience with my CHI iron. This brush/comb glides through my hair very easily once I have brushed it out prior to using it. I am able to hold it in one hand and use the other hand to guide it and I don’t get burned! I can actually touch it and not get scalded. I use the brush/comb underneath my hair and then hold the end to gently curve it under because I don’t like pin straight ends. I don’t know if it will make pin straight ends because I don’t use it that way, but it works fabulously on my hair and the way that I like for my hair to look when I’m done styling it.I have used this styling brush after freshly washing and drying my hair, I have used it on hair that I slept on wet and woke up to it going 90 different directions, I have used it on “day old” hair where I just brushed out my curly hair from the day before, ANY way I have tried to use this brush has worked wonderfully and my hair has looked great. The best part is it only takes about 5-7 minutes of styling to get out the door with pretty good looking hair and about 10-12 minutes to get out the door with fantastic looking hair. Either way – I am very pleased with the results.I don’t want to see the price of this brush/comb going up, because it is fantastically priced for how well quality made it is and for how well it works – but I would have paid much more for this just because I have been able to experience the quality and the results I have gotten from it. I can say hands down, this is by far the single best hair tool, hair tonic, hair potion, product, etc that I have ever purchased. I hope you love it as much as I do!!

This thing is great!
With a regular straightener it takes 40-50 minutes on my hair, with this brush I can get it straight in 15-20 minutes! The paddle is pretty long and the ridges are quite deep, so I can do much larger sections than with a regular split straightener. It's also great for quick kink brush out. Because the brush itself is a set of blade-like ridges (instead or thin plain brush-like version), you can even curl your ends without getting it permanently tangled in your hair. The downside is the buttons are right under the palm your your hand, so I manage to accidentally switch it off occasionally while using.

Works crazy good; just a power button issue..
So gentle on my hair, and works quicker than a straightening iron. Impressed over all - a few improvements required on the buttons though. The placement of the power button is easy to bump while straightening my hair, but that being said, the power button doesn't even work to turn the unit off. I always unplug heating units anyway, so I'm not going to bother returning it or shipping it to be replaced because I still actually love it despite the button issue.

Works okay for straightening - not as well as the real thing, but it really is safe to use. It gets hot, but you can't burn yourself with this one - a major feature in the early morning hours. It would be 5 starts except it is hard to get the really hair really close to the scalp.

Very nice tool for the right hair type.
I quite liked the actual hair tool itself, it's sturdy and well constructed. Hair doesn't catch on anything, cord turns, not too heavy, nice temp. control and on/off switch. I would have kept it but the fact is, that it fried my frizzy color-treated hair even on the low setting. I could not see using it on a regular basis. Sadly, returned it.

Probably wouldn't repurchase this item again because I feel that it doesn't straighten or curl as good as I thought it would
It works OK. Probably wouldn't repurchase this item again because I feel that it doesn't straighten or curl as good as I thought it would. Used it on 4 different hair types and all the same result. I would stick to the regular straightening brush or flat iron.
