Knorr Fix goulash (Gulasch) (Pack of 4)

We like this mix, is taste great and can be served with noodles and most meats.

As a European living in the US this is as close as you will get to the real thing if you don't know how to make from scratch. Sometime I sauté onion and green pepper first but it's still good without. Chuck or rump roast are the best cuts of beef for this. I quick sear the beef on the grill instead of the pan to avoid boiling and don't like to use oil.

We buy this goulash on a regular basis. It does not disappoint.

My store doesn't carry this anymore. I swear I try to make Hungarian goulash from scratch but Lord help me, it never turns out as good as this. I feel like I'm cheating but I don't care. It's depressing to purchase all fresh ingredients and have it turn out just ok, when this is fantastic.You have to translate from German but basically, brown a pound of stew meat, sautee an onion, add 1.5 cups H20 and this packet. Let it boil and then let simmer for 1+ hours. Easier to transfer to a crock pot and let it go for 4 hours. You have to watch it more on the stove... It's good with just meat, onion, packet and water, but you can also add a bit of caraway seed, and more paprika. I suppose you could add some stewed tomatoes too. A bit of fresh parsley for garnish at the end. I will probably try this with pork chops cut up at some point because I have this on monthly auto ship now....
