The spoon is a very odd shape. The proportion of handle-to-spoon is equal. Meaning the spoon part is 5" and the handle is 5". The spoon is more of a paddle shape, almost 3" across and is more flat than it is scooped. I dare say I could almost use as a ping pong paddle, that's the proportion I'm trying to describe. It is a niche spoon, and would be one of those finds where I say it's perfect for it's use. Maybe something like mashed potatoes, or a denser stuffing, that would normally stick to a more scooped spoon surface. But the serving dish would have to be more towards a round shape vs. an oval. And not too deep as the handle is only the 5". I happen to like more traditionally shaped spoons and have been searching for some to round out my holiday serving pieces. I will say that the quality is great, almost a brushed stainless, and has nice weight to it, making it feel more high-end. I am returning as they are not what I was looking for, but if you like eclectic, these would be for you. (Editing review to add, after surfing around, they look like the paddles you might use to serve sticky-rice you made in a rice cooker.)

I wish I had read the reviews that commented on what an odd shape these spoons are. They are indeed paddle shaped with a large scooping area that has very little depth to it. I am also displeased with the placement of the logo on the handle. I have included pictures that show what I mean. Perhaps they will work better than I expect, but for now I wish I had looked more closely before ordering.

These are very large, yet shallow spoons. If you want to toss salad with them, they would be fine for that. If you put them in a regular size serving bowl with a vegetable in it, the vegetable will be gone after three people go through with these spoons. They are not at all the same size that comes with your normal flatware. I returned these.

Love these spoons. Perfect for everything from buffet to every serving dish. Wished I’d bought these years ago. Not too light weight. I think they’re perfect. I’ll probably order another set!,

These spoons DO NOT look like the picture. They are flat at the bottom not rounded.

I bought these spoons for my niece for Thanksgiving diner. She loved everything about them. I would buy them again, they are very solid spoons.
