A lifesaver for upholstery
No upholstery/carpet cleaning service would touch my sofa which is upholstered in an off-white cotton velvet fabric. The fabric type states that it must be cleaned by solvent only, even though I put the arm & cushion covers in the washer & they do fine. One cleaning company quoted me $650 to “dry clean” my sofa & chair. I purchased 7 cans of this cleaner along with a velvet upholstery brush & did it myself. The result was remarkable. You need to have the windows open when brushing a large item like an entire couch. You will also need to have a vacuum handy to thoroughly vacuum the fabric & the floor of the residual white dust after brushing. But, the results are amazing & you don’t have any water marks.

Did a decent job
Overall not bad, used it on stains on my linen headboard. The stains were from years of hair products etc. While the spray didn't eliminate the stains, it lessened them 80-90%. Make sure you have a powerful vacuum to pull out the solvent dust once it dries, or it will leave a ring.It is a solvent, no water is in the product. Works on Type S fabrics.

I’m ordering another can immediately—I never want to be caught without this!
I don’t know what kind of chemical magic this is, and I probably don’t want to know, but it works! I bought this to get rid of two mystery rings that appeared on my very expensive sofa after the Christmas holidays. The cleaning code on the sofa fabric is SW. I first tested the back of one of the seat cushions to make sure there was no discoloration. I sprayed this on the stains, let it dry per the instructions, and then used a toothbrush to rub the powder out (the spray becomes a powder instantly), after it had time to dry. I ordered an upholstery brush, but the bristles were too stiff for the fabric so I used a new soft bristled toothbrush. I wanted to make sure all of the powder was out, so I vacuumed to really make sure it was gone. I only planned on using this to get those stains out, but ended up cleaning the entire sofa. It looks like a brand new sofa! I Then remembered that a chair with cleaning code S had a water stain that I had forgotten about because I turned the chair cushion over. With nothing to lose, I gave that stain a spray and followed the same procedure, and it too was gone! I really wish I had taken before and after pictures. I was just about to cave and call a professional cleaning service and I’m really glad I found this product—it likely saved me hundreds of dollars. I’m ordering another can right now—I never want to be without this in case of a stain!

Some better, but some worse
I used this on 3 couches. 2 look better; 1 looks worse. It worked best on the microsuede couch (the blue one in the pictures.). That couch now looks great. Although it was the least stained to start with. The worst part was the couch arm, where people had rested their hand/arm for years. The discoloration from the oils in skin is now completely gone. So I would be 100% satisfied with the results on this. The green one is an outdoor couch, and I let the grandkids eat on that one, so it had a lot of stains. It looks WAY better, although the stains are definitely not all gone. Some of them are gone and others are just less noticeable. I should probably note that this couch was previously Scotchguarded, so that probably helped. So I’d be 80% satisfied with the performance on this one.Unfortunately, on the orange one, the only stain that was there is actually much worse. It wasn’t nearly as pronounced before the treatment as it is after. So I’m going to have to take this to the dry cleaner to see if they can fix it. I hope it didn’t permanently make it worse. Fortunately, this cover is removable, so relatively easy to take to dry cleaner. I’ll update later to report on whether it’s fixable at the dry cleaner.A couple things to note; it takes A LOT of violent scrubbing with a brush for this to work. I wasn’t prepared for the amount of effort. I’ve been at it for more than 2.5 hours. I scrub, scrub, scrub til I’m exhausted and have to take a break, then go back at it. I’m serious that it takes a tremendous amount of effort to make it work. Even on the couch that was the least stained, I scrubbed and scrubbed. I finally resorted to a suede brush, which has wire bristles (but pretty soft wire bristles). That made it go a little easier. But, on the 2 couches that aren’t suede, it raised a lot of nap, so now instead of stains, there are fabric pills. But for me, that’s still better than stains. Also, everything in the vicinity, including you, will be covered with powder when you’re done. So be prepared to dust and vacuum everything as soon as you finish. And, even as hard as I scrubbed, it’s clear I didn’t get all the powder out. I’m sure we’ll all be brushing powder off our butts for weeks to come. So don’t do this the day before you have company coming, unless you want them all to have white butts. So, my overall rating is 3. 5 for the blue microsuede couch; 3-4 for the green outdoor (previously Scotchguarded) couch, and 0 for the orange couch, which got worse. And it’s a lot of work, a lot of cleanup after, and residue hanging around for a while.

Worked well on a wool rug!
I spilled coffee with milk on our wool area rug. I immediately used warm water and clean white towels to get as much of the stain up as soon as possible. After initial clean up I ordered one can of this product because there was still a stain and outline of the spill. It took about three applications (just as the directions suggested-repeat) but the stain was removed without any damage by this product to the rug. Recommended.

Leaves awful feeling residue behind
This did the same thing to my couch as sprinkling baby powder on it, but even more toxic. (Aka nothing) It also left a terrible feeling residue behind on the couch that vacuuming multiple times still has not gotten rid of completely.

It works
I was hesitant to use this product due to all the warnings on the can. I took my fabric kitchen chair outside and srayed the product on the stains, left it outside unti the spray dried up into the powder and then used a small whisk brush to brush it off. The stains were gone! :)
