Good for peace of mind
I've seen this product appearing more and more on my social media and I love a gadget so was keen to try it. Yes it is quite pricey but the peace of mind it brings makes up for that. Everything is beautifully packaged and very easy to set up. I like that you get several different sock sizes so that it can grow with your child. I can't say if it is comfortable to wear as I'm not the one wearing it but it doesn't seem to bother my little one. The socks are lovely and soft and the velcro seems pretty secure. We have only had yellow alerts (thankfully) usually due to wriggling and I really like that rather than a shrill, upsetting alarm sound it plays hush little baby. It's loud enough to get your attention but not a scary sound. I regularly look at the graphs in the app to see how baby has slept and I've found it quite interesting. I also like the little information bits about my baby's development in the guide section of the app.The battery life is brilliant and it charges very quickly. The app is very easy to use and I like that it is personalised with your baby’s information.Overall a very good product. I will definitely continue to use it as my little one grows. I'm sure that it will become more important once they are in their own room too.

For when you need extra reassurance
We bought the owlet sock after our 8 month old stopped breathing and collapsed shortly after waking up in the morning and I needed to give her CPR.Although she’s been given the all clear with no underlying medical issues, we wanted to be able to immediately respond if it ever happened again, especially whilst she sleeps. So far the owlet has given us exactly that:Setup was relatively straightforward although there were some issues pairing the sock to the station and assigning them. The online chat was helpful in sorting this. The sock comes in two sizes and can be worn on either feet (total of 4 socks) up to around 18 months of age. There is only one sensor that is swapped out between the various socks. Fitting the sock is actually very straightforward without much fussing.Readings are relatively accurate and matched the SATS and HR we saw in the hospital stay. That said it’s almost impossible to do a direct comparison unless you have medically certified equipment to hand to verify. The base station and application respond quickly enough to change in circumstances (e.g. loss of signal, movement, drop in metrics). So far we’ve had no false positives but our greater concern is false negatives which again are harder to verify. The sleep log is a clever bit of algorithms combined with readings and on review is a generally good indicator of how well or poorly your little one sleeps.Overall very impressed and pleased with the kit. For the average parent and child with no underlying issues i wouldn’t think it all that useful (if anything, more anxiety inducing for all parties). For those who have serious concerns and are actually soothed by the metrics it delivers then I’d highly recommend.

Definitely recommend for peace of mind
This has given me so much peace of mind, it is expensive but baby is now 3 months and I feel it has been good value for money so if I continue to use it for another year then it will be even better. I worked out the price per week if I was to use it for 18 months and it is well worth it.Battery life is good, you get a full night and then some for days when baby hasn’t been very well so I’ve wanted to leave it on longer. Then it charges quite fast ready for the next night. I find the accuracy is good, it’s only alerted me once and I had already phoned the doctor an hour before as I was worried about baby not being well so this just affirmed it for me. It doesn’t replace common sense, if you are worried about baby being unwell then you should get him or her checked. But it does allow me to sleep knowing it will alert if baby needs urgent attention.

Terrible product
This is an absolutely awful product, you would expect it to work properly, efficiently and reliably, not only because of the price of the item, but also because of the importance of what it claims to monitor. Unfortunately we have had countless instances, usually up to 3/4 times per night where the Owlet app/monitor claims to have ‘lost connection’ when this happens, the base station flashes blue and sings a tune, as well as a notification on my phone, this in term startles and wakes my peaceful sleeping baby and causes disturbances and difficult night and nap wakings for no reason. I would understand if this was actually the case, however as soon as I click the base station to ‘pause’ the notification, it starts glowing green again immediately, which indicates secure connection and getting readings or if I click into the app to ‘pause’ the notification, as soon as the app opens, the notification is gone and I can see readings etc - which again indicates a secure connection and getting readings. We have no issues with our Wi-Fi (we have no issues with our phones, computers, gaming consoles etc and even have an added router in our bedroom ‘just in case’) the sock is fully charged and cleaned regularly as advised, the sock and base station are well within range of one another (it is in the same room and same side as the baby) and there are no issues with placement (this presents different in notification/glowing colour and is also checked when it ‘looses connection’), not only that, but the fact as soon as the notification is paused it immediately shows readings, shows this notification is coming up incorrectly and causing sleep disturbances, distress and is just generally unreliable and really disappointing. We can no longer use our item, for which we paid over £200 for, less than six months ago as it is too unreliable. Complete and utter waste of money and useless.
