If you want to hear how much of the music you were missing before, then proceed with caution.
I knew that buying this Marantz CD player might have been a mistake. Now I am saving my pennies to purchase the matching pre-amp (Marantz PM6007) as I chase down the budget minded audiophile hole, like I need another expensive hobby. But I am glad that I did buy this one. I never knew that CDs could sound so good, hands down far better than any other CD player that I have ever listened to before. It was like leaving the kiddies table and joining the adults. The soundstage and fullness of what I heard blew me away, even with significant hearing loss from the army. The Marantz CD6007 was worth every penny, and then some.

Expensive and Worth It
Marantz discovered musical magic with their cd players from the very beginning. Their early models allowed harsh cd's to sound more like phonograph records. I replaced a 24-year-old Marantz changer that I have loved, but it does not begin to compare with this single disc player. I was astounded at the level of detail that I had been missing in my cd collection. The instruments and vocals came alive with correct timbre and balance; sounding much closer, I am guessing, to what the recording engineers intended. Piano music sounded as if the pianist was playing in my listening room. Hi-fi for us poor folk is all about upgrading one component at a time, and reveling in the stark improvement it makes for years until you can afford another upgrade. Replaying every cd you own to appreciate the music anew is a joyful experience. I can't really speak to the 6007's value for the money, since I have not compared it to other brands. I do not use all of its features; I just play compact discs, so it is quite expensive for doing only that, but my ears tell me it is worth it.

Good unit - Marantz CD6007
This is a good CD transport. It has sound-stage, detail, clarity and good dynamic range. Break in time was about a week to bring it to full performance. Super easy to use. Remote works great. Can dial in any track by pressing on the number pad on the remote. Seeks to tracks quickly. Sounds better in my opinion to "lossless" streaming services, FLAC and computer-based audio. People say you can't tell a difference between lossless M4A or Flac, but I disagree -- CDs sound better and more natural with less listening fatigue.

Good unit, but doesn't support NTFS formatted flash drives.
Sounds good. I bought this model because it supported play from a usb drive. I was surprised to find that it does not support NTFS formatted drives.

Marantz cd 6007 no sound
Cd player does not have any sound, I tried all kinds of connections, no success. I did followed the manual to the letter. I do like the player, matches my Marantz receiver Sr 7010. Please help or exchange. Not happy!!

impressive upgrade
Major upgrade in quality of audio not to mention the super quiet operation of this unit is impressive to say the least. I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to hear incredibly clean audio.

Great high-end unit w/ filter selection that provides that little extra fine tuning capability
I have been building (and rebuilding) my audio room for a few months, focusing on vinyl and analog hi-end components. I wasn't intending to add a CD player to the component list, but while I had sworn off CD's a couple decades ago, and the resurgence of LP's allowed me to delay the inevitable, the cost and availability of vinyl caused me to rethink including a CD unit. The Marantz CD6007 filled the bill very well with quality construction, including a disc transport that doesn't make you feel like the drawer may cease to open at any given moment. The DAC is audiophile grade and when pushed through my preamp it diminishes that sharp digital characteristic - providing access to album / content via CD's that are either out-of-press availability coupled with a true high-end product from Marantz has me feeling very good about adding CD's back into my audio library. For a sub $1k unit, you can't go wrong with this unit.

Quality Issue
I bought this CD player to replace a much more expensive CD player. The expensive CD player required two tray replacements. What I expected from reading multiple excellent ratings regarding the Marantz 6007 was a great player for a modest price. The initial listening confirmed that the sound was just amazing. What a deal for such sound!!!What I was not prepared for was the player stopped functioning after 2 weeks. No matter what button I pushed on the machine or the remote would not allow me to listen or load/unloae cd.Although it is not Amazon's position to have to honor the warranty, I found that Marantz was worthlesss in its responsibility for the 3 year warranty. What difference is the Marantz 3 year warranty compared to most other 2 year standard warranties. Marantz might as well have a 30 year warranty when you can't contact them. After countless hours on the phone I never was able to speak to them. The normal wait time that they said was 45 minutes would go down to 35 minutes. Then suddenly the wait time increased to an hour. This happened endlessly. Trying Marantz's web site for service was equally frustratingm The end result for me is the Marantz CD 6007 sounds great. It is not worth it if you get a defective one. I never write reviews, as is evident. But buying a Maran)tz C 6007 CD is just not worth it.
