KnightsbridgeTV & SAT TV Outlet (isolated) - Square Edge Antique Brass

Got these to replace some 30+ year old MK metal sockets which were still actually ok but the decor in the room was changed.These Knightsbridge double sockets are really good quality.These Knightsbridge sockets have DP (Double Pole) switches which means Live and Neutral are cut off when switched off unlike SP (Single Pole) switches which only cut off the Live when switched off. SP is safe but DP is safer on sockets especially if you're like me leaving plugs in all the while.

When replacing these switches, the likelihood is that your switches and house are not brand new, which means that you might find your old switch connections are completely different to these.I found that the connections were in opposite locations compared to my old switch cover, which meant I had to move the wires in different directions. Bearing in mind the wires are not exactly unlimited in length, it took me nearly an hour to do one because of the length of existing wire and accommodating the new wire position. In one instance, the wire just wouldn’t stretch over to the opposite side so I’ve had to extend the earth wire so that the switch is safely earthed.Be prepared for a lot of swearing, time spent and some problem solving to fit these, you may need the help of someone more competent if extending wires feels uncomfortable. Plus side is that they look way better than the standard white plastic switch cover.

At first glance it's a nice, solid piece, feels strong when you are working with it. Won't fall apart that's for sure.When you try to mount it onto the wall:-you realize there is no cable management option on the back to hold the cable tight in the wall-the paper slides out from the window and falls onto the floor. There's a big gap behind the transparent window.When you try to use it:-the ethernet cable simply pops out from the connector. The reason is the sliding door on the front. As the spring is strong and the door has a sharp edge on the bottom, it simply prevents the ethernet connector to be fully pushed in (shown on the pictures) and lock. You need to use both hands: 1 to fully push up the sliding door (probably with nails), other one to push the cable in.It's a nice piece, but I have the feeling that nobody tried to use it before releasing the product. Another disappointing piece from Knightsbridge, but at least this one comes with long enough screws and good paint quality.

I bought this switch in early October this year and was pleased at first with the brightness control of the switch and ease of install. However, within two months the switch got stuck, meaning I can't turn it on/off anymore! Quite disappointed with it's quality,considering I hardly sit in the living room and only use the switch on average of two times a week. I will now be asking for a replacement, hoping this was a one off issue and replacement will last me a little longer.

Make sure you have the right size back box ( 25 mm ) I took my old 2 gang USB socket out ,but this one wouldn't go in without a struggle, I tried a spacer then the bolts were too short , then I had to bend the unused screw lugs back to make it fit ,I think the older type back box are slightly smaller,hope this helps.it was a pain in the B*M

Advertised as brass, but is really plastic with perhaps a very thin layer of brass on top. Kept, since I only needed the internals to repair a broken wall plate, but would not order this one again.It’s probably better (once life is back to normal) to go to your local DIY shop for these kind of things, so you can see them before you buy.

So pleased with these socket covers, excellent quality material and the colour is stunning ( not a cheap looking brass colour ) I have also bought a couple of switch covers and 4 more double plug covers. For the price and quality I’m sure you can’t get better. Delivery and correspondence also excellent.

Looks great. The brushed gold is so much nicer than polished. Really pleased. Works perfectly. Easty to install having never changed plug sockets before
