This planting material can develop new shoots and branches suitable for ongoing training once roots establish and vigorous growth begins. - Graceful Cascading Tree Style: Narrow green willow leaves and flexible young branches make weeping willow suitable for flowing bonsai shapes. Regular pruning, branch selection, and careful training help guide the miniature silhouette while supporting developing trunk structure. - Water Or Soil Propagation: Unrooted willow cuttings can develop roots in clean water or consistently moist growing medium. Keep upper buds above the waterline, monitor emerging roots, and transplant gently when sufficient root growth develops. - Outdoor Bonsai Growing: Provide bright outdoor growing conditions, a container with drainage, and reliable moisture during active growth. Willow bonsai require regular observation because shallow bonsai containers can dry quickly, especially during hot summer weather. - Bonsai Training And Seasonal Care: Develop the tree over time through pruning, shaping, watering, and seasonal maintenance. Deciduous willow may lose its leaves during dormancy, while the branches and trunk continue providing opportunities for bonsai development in subsequent growing seasons. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B08JXNJ4YN | | Best Sellers Rank | #115,289 in Grocery & Gourmet Food ( See Top 100 in Grocery & Gourmet Food ) #43 in Indoor Bonsai | | Brand | CZ Grain | | Brand Name | CZ Grain | | Color | Brown Woody Stem, Green Leaves During Growth | | Customer Reviews | 3.6 out of 5 stars 8,394 Reviews | | Expected Blooming Period | Spring Catkins on Mature Plants; Grown for Foliage | | Expected Planting Period | Winter | | Indoor Outdoor Usage | Indoor | | Indoor/Outdoor Usage | Indoor | | Manufacturer | CZ Grain | | Material Feature | Natural | | Material Features | Natural | | Moisture Needs | Consistently Moist Growing Medium | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Other Special Features of the Product | Thick Woody Cutting, Cascading Branch Training, Live Bonsai Starter | | Plant or Animal Product Type | bonsai | | Product Care Instructions | Root in water or moist soil; grow outdoors; prune and water regularly. | | Soil Type | pot soil | | Special Feature | Thick Woody Cutting, Cascading Branch Training, Live Bonsai Starter | | Sunlight Exposure | Full Sun to Partial Sun Outdoors | | USDA Hardiness Zone | Zones 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** CZ Grain - **Color:** Green - **Expected Blooming Period:** Winter - **Expected Planting Period:** Winter - **Indoor/Outdoor Usage:** Indoor - **Material Feature:** Natural - **Sunlight Exposure:** Full Sun, Partial Shade - **USDA Hardiness Zone:** Zones 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 - **Unit Count:** 1 Count ## Images ![Green Weeping Willow Bonsai Tree, Live Thick Cutting for Training, 1 Stem - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71p6NzCGUtL.jpg) ![Green Weeping Willow Bonsai Tree, Live Thick Cutting for Training, 1 Stem - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71oosIlgDUL.jpg) ![Green Weeping Willow Bonsai Tree, Live Thick Cutting for Training, 1 Stem - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61zGs7IcOyL.jpg) ![Green Weeping Willow Bonsai Tree, Live Thick Cutting for Training, 1 Stem - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/718XrpMSmGL.jpg) ![Green Weeping Willow Bonsai Tree, Live Thick Cutting for Training, 1 Stem - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81KY+IC7Q-L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is premium bonsai soil blend ok for this?** A: I recommend Fox Farms Ocean bottom soil. What I used until it has strong roots I pulled out of basic grow pot and reported into Bonsai soil. I did put a little bit of the fox farms soil mix with it. Just sprinkled in layers. **Q: What is the species and scientific name for this type of willow tree?** A: All true genetic willows (those not just using a descriptive name) are from the genus Salix. The tree looks like either a Salix babylonica or a Salix matsudana. The Matsudana species has a variety named 'Tortulosa'. Therefore the full name would be, Salix matsudana 'Tortulosa'. BUT then again, it could be another species of Willow that I have not mentioned here, if it is an actual Salix species. Can't tell by the tiny photo. Pretty tree though. 🫠🫠🫠 **Q: Is it just the seeds?** A: its a thick trunk cutting. they grow so fast!! you will be amazed. we guarantee them! **Q: how can i encourage more branch growth? its been some months and all i see is long leaves no branches yet.** A: I purchased this in hopes of having a beautiful willow tree. At first, it was great - good roots, terrific growth (abundant leaves). However, after 3 months, first one and then the others (I received 3 branches) started to fail. When I pulled the first one, some of the roots had turned black and had a horrible smell. It wasn't too long before the other two followed. Keep in mind, I used the recommended soil for these bonsai and followed watering directions, etc. I don't know what to tell you about branch growth - I never got that far. Good luck with your plants. ## Frequently Bought Together - CZ Grain Bonsai Green Weeping Willow Tree Cutting - Thick Trunk Start, Dwarf Bonsai Material.
