I forgot how good these things are. I started my Solo today and for some reason, I used a big starter log. Mistake! The big ones are too hot and put off black smoke (soot in the pit and on the heat deflector). I'm going to buy more of these little Solo fire starters and use these exclusively. They provide just enough burn time and fire to get your split wood going. A little more pricey than I would like, but a great product for the Solo.

I made the mistake of buying another type of firestarter and I was hugely disappointed. Lots of smoke, not enough of a fire. So I went back to the firestarter that was made by Solo Stove for Solo Stove. these always work great and even though it's a little pricey, it's well worth it. I use three for each fore -- placed in a triangel pattern, with a little kindling on top to get things going. I always end up with a great fire.

I bought these for my tabletop Solo stove and they work great! I love how easy it was to light and one square lasts for a good amount of time as well. I will be buying again.
