Excellent digital thermometer for smoking/bbqing
I purchased the TP28 to replace an inexpensive bluetooth thermometer received (and returned) as a Christmas gift. The bluetooth thermometer continually would have issues connecting to the app, even when I was standing right next to it - essentially unusable. On top of that, the button cell battery died after only a few hours of use.Enter the TP-28. This thing is everything the other thermometer was not. 1: Simple (no buggy app to install or deal with) - and 2: reliable (never once had an issue with the receive not picking up the signal from the transmitter). I didn't test whether the 500ft claim is truly accurate, but I did take the transmitter all over the house without any trouble picking up the transmitter. As for accuracy, I checked both probes multiple times (before and after my cook) and the one probe was spot on (212 degrees in boiling water) and the other initially read 211 (but later read 212 on my 2nd test).A few minor improvements I'd love to see added in a future version:1) I wanted to see what would happen if the transmitter dies, so I tried turning it off as well as removing the batteries to simulate the batteries in the transmitter dying. Unfortunately, nothing happened on the receiver except an indicator that flashes when data is received stopped flashing. Digging through the manual, it looks like there's an alarm after 30 minutes. For me, this delay is way too long. I'd rather have it be as short as 1 minute to ensure the grill doesn't change outside the set temp range and I don't get notified. It would be nice if this delay was user-configurable. I'd like to be able to use this thermometer overnight for long smoke sessions, and not knowing for 30 minutes if the transmitter battery dies is a bit concerning due to the possibility of the grill temp going outside the target range.2) no way to disable beep when buttons pressed. When you're messing w/ programming the transmitter before starting a cook, all the beeping can get annoying every time you press a button. I wish there was a way to disable the beeping, as you can see the display change when you press a button (so no need for an audio cue as well)3) I think the transmitter's alarm only has two settings: flashing the backlight and beeping. I wish there was another option: off. When smoking overnight, it's nice to have the outdoor alarm be silent, so it's not making noise that could disrupt people sleeping in earshot of transmitter. It would also be nice to not have the flashing backlight unnecessarily wear down the battery. These issues are fairly minor, and overall this is an outstanding product. I don't know how I've gone so long without such a device, but thanks to the TP-28, never again!

Great tool for us amateur pitbosses.
I bought this late in the season last year and I'm just now getting a chance to use it. This thing is awesome and a complete game changer in my world. Especially during football season! No more getting interrupted from the game to check the temps on the smoker itself or on your meat probes outside. With the alarms you can tell when your smoke chamber temps are too high or too low; and on the meat setting pull your meats at the exact temp you set it for.The color coded probes are nice to have when smoking different meats. Set the meat temp for each type of meat you're cooking on the transmitter. Plug the colored probes into the corresponding color port on the transmitter and make sure you put the probe into the proper meat you have set the temp for.The transmitter and receiver are synced right out of the box. As soon as I put the batteries and probes in and turned on both units the receiver was reading the transmitter.Easy to set up each quadrant between meat and Hi/Lo (smoker temp). Set an alarm with a tone, vibrate, both or silent.Love that it has connections for 4 probes. Coupled with the 2 probes on my smoker, I can have 5 probes in meat on my 5 rack vertical smoker and 1 reading the internal air temps. Or any combination thereof. This is going to sound silly, but I LOVE the packaging that it came in. Particularly the probes. It comes with the probe wire wrapped around this black plastic piece with the connector snapped in place on one side and the probe snapped in place on the other side. I was going to throw them away but decided to try and reuse them to keep everything neat and organized in the box. It was easy to snap the connector in, wrap it back up, and pop the probe on the other side. Everything tucked nicely back in the egg carton protector and back in the box. Nice, neat, organized and ready to go for my next smoke!

Works as described
These work just as described, I've used them for several different types of meat and they've worked great every time. I'm using Amazon basics rechargeable batteries and after about 15 or 20 uses they're still working great. The cord storage on the probes is not really that convenient to use, they always make them so that you have to wind it perfectly for everything to fit right but who ever does that after they use them? It would be nice if it was a little bit better designed for real world use. But other than that I would definitely recommend these if you're looking for a product like this. Very simple to use and has a good range, I've never had them lose connection anywhere I am in my house or backyard, I live on one acre and have a 1600 square foot single story home. No problems or issues with this product other than the cord storage of the remote units being finicky.

Wonderful
Got for my husband and he loves it. Can put in the meat and go inside and watch the temperature. Easy to use and accurate. Love that you have a remote you can put on the fridge and see what the temperature is.

Fantastic!!!!
Bought this Thermo pro to use on my new Weber 22" kettle. I was smoking a 6 lb pork butt. I used one probe to let me know the temperature where the meat hit the grate, they include a holder that attaches to the cooking grate. That gave me the precise temp that the meat was really cooking at. Also it allowed me to keep the temp where I needed it. Long story short. If you want precise temperatures on your meat and the temp of your grill, this is a must have.
