There are other water filters on Amazon......the one i am thinking of is much cheaper, but all i can tell you is in this case, you pay for what you get. If you want the filter to remove most of the stuff that should not go into your body from tap water, then don't cut corners.This filter works great!It needs about 3 times of running water through it, to get the residual product out and to get the water filter performing at a level producing water at a fairly decent rate. I need 5 gallons filtered everyday and it has no problem keeping up with that.Their sock fits very tightly over the ceramic filter (which is a huge plus b/c this prevents the issue of an "air bubble" which would affect performance. You may find it to be a little tighter than you want, as i had to spend 5 minutes or so, just getting the sock perfectly fit, but for me, it was well worth that extra time b/c that sock will not come off until I put my own hands on it to pull it off. To me, after dealing with the last manufacturer's issue of having a sock that was............lets just say, worthless & cheap cheap cheap! This company provides you with a great product that is well worth the price!

The Just Water Ceramic Water Filter is a cost-effective means of providing safe drinking water during a major disaster that affects the culinary supply. I've not tested the system yet and I hope I never need it, but the concept appears to be good. It was recommended by some very knowledgeable people. It's designed for individual or family use where large volumes of drinking water aren't needed. The alternative to the Just Water system is to purchase a pricey back-packing system. The four star rating is selected because the price from other dealers is $29.99 rather than the much higher Amazon price. The speedy and reasonable shipping fees was the deciding factor in purchasing the system from Amazon.

Our drinking water is heavy in iron from our well and appears red in color in quantities. We filter into jugs before drinking and it is clear! We use this every day and highly recommend it. I have it sitting off the floor just high enough where I can put a jug under it without having to hold it while it fills.When you first get it, it will drip very slowly until it saturates, then it will speed up in the next day or so. After a couple of months, we noticed it had slowed down drastically and cleaned it with a toothbrush and it sped up very quickly. So much so that I hadn't realized how much I had gotten used to the slower rate that it had overflowed the bottom bucket by the next morning! That was my oops!I am ordering more of these to keep on hand and am grateful for their affordable price compared to the other filters out there.I went with this filter over the others due to price and the same filtering ability. I also like to support smaller companies like "Just Water". I've seen many other reviews too with others having great success with a starting water quality much worse than our own. The sock is designed to filter out cruddier water and isn't required to use the filter. In our case, we use it because of the reddish content in our water. To clean it, we just threw it in the washing machine and it came out just fine.We are very pleased with this product.

Works pretty well. Our water has a noticeable bit of particulate and the filter has slowed down quite a bit since starting use. However, I don't fault the filter as it is doing its job. Installation of the filter into a couple of buckets was really easy and took hardly no time at all. Filter kit arrived on time and in excellent condition, no complaints with fulfillment.

Water runs through this product extremely quickly, unlike the more expensive British counterparts. Not sure of product efficacy as far as bacterium, but it does take out particles and dirt. If used, I would use in conjunction with a bleach treatment or heating.

There are only two dealers that are currently selling Just Water filter and it is not on amazon:[...] and [...]. The product shown is not made from Just Water as the seller suggest. I just got off the phone with Just Water and he explain this. Please be aware that you are NOT getting the product you think you are getting.

Over all I am satisfied with this filter. However, I could not get the faucet that goes into the bottom side of the 5 gal. bucket to not leak until I purchased a larger rubber ring to use in place of the fiber?(or plastic) washers they supplied. They probably would work fine if the bucket was square and not round but not too many buckets are like that. Still I bought another and will probably get a third for different locations we live as I could make it work. It is otherwise an inexpensive and effective water filter that will filter relatively large amounts of water.

My family purchased a set almost 2 years ago now. A few filter changes later (usually about every 6 months) and we still love it. And we DO use it. If the bottom tank gets low the family will let me know in a hurry. We filter the rain water we collect and the taste is better than RO water which I used to sell and install a long time ago. My only wish would be that they sell pre-made upper and lower tanks to go with, made from stainless steel.
