Speck Products Samsung Galaxy S5 CandyShell Grip - Black/Slate

My Galaxy S5 was my first phone that I purchased that was really a halfway decent phone and therefore I really wanted a case to protect it well. I'd never used a case for any of my prior phones and I was a little bit worried that it would add bulk and weight. This particular case was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad that I decided to buy it! I've never been sorry about making the purchase.The case itself is reasonably lightweight so it doesn't make the phone feel cumbersome or bulky. Furthermore, it's amazingly protective! There are soft little rubber grips on the sides to help prevent dropping the phone but even if it is dropped, the case absorbs the impact amazingly well. I I was horrified one day when I dropped my phone from a 10 foot ladder and I watch grimly as it fell and bounced three times on the ground and landed face down. I climbed down the ladder, wincing because I was afraid that my phone would be completely toast, but I was shocked to find that it was perfectly fine! The case had sustained just a couple of scratches, but the phone itself was 100% intact. I've dropped it other times - - from lesser heights - - and my phone has always been well protected. When I end up upgrading my phone once again, I will definitely purchase this particular case for my next phone as well. I'm definitely hooked.

I bought this for my wife 16 months ago, and she's had it on her S5 ever since. She has been known to annihilate cell phones! Its a gift, I guess. over the course of 5 years and 3 phones, I have had to replace the screen glass 4 times, 2 LCDs, a main board, a volume button, a power button, a camera, a camera lens, a piece of the housing, a battery cover and a partridge in a pear tree! She always (to my knowledge, at least) had a case on her phone. Somehow, she still manages to kill them... even an Otterbox was no match for my wife's brutality! So, when we upgraded her to the Galaxy S5, I IMMEDIATELY got a temp case until I could do some research and get her a proper case. I know some people that have and swear by Speck cases. So, I decided to throw Speck into the lion's den... lets see what you got! To my amazement, after 16 months of abuse, getting chucked into the forsaken abyss known as a purse, dropped I don't even know how many times from various heights and onto various surfaces, not to mention torture tested by a child, the case barely has signs of wear, save for the slight discoloration of the rubber. I salute you, Speck! You have done what I thought could not be done. I too have since converted to a Speck case for my Note 4. Bravo!

I had an Incipio dual layer case on my Galaxy S5 that offered excellent protection but I didn't care for the added bulkiness it added to my phone or the staining the rubberized finish picked up from dark clothing. The Speck case just feels better in my hands (petite girl with smaller hands) and it's much less bulk, plus I love the aqua/minty color so much. Only down side is the rubberized grip on this case is picking up some staining already and the case is thinner/lighter so I'm not sure how well it will protect my phone in a serious fall. I have dropped my phone once with this case on a concrete floor and it landed on what would be a vital spot (my heart stopped) and nothing happened to my phone (thankfully) though the corner of the case is scratched pretty good now. I know it's not the level of protection that the an Incipio or Otterbox cases provide and that it something you really should take into consideration before making your final choice, it's a risk I chose and I hope I don't regret it but I'm not 1 of those people who drops their phone too often so that helped me make my decision.Overall: Feels good, looks good, less bulk but probably a 5/6 in terms of protection level and the rubberized portions are still going to stain.

This case absolutely rocks! I purchased another case (stallion) and was completely disappointed as it was so slippery I was continually dropping this case. I ordered this case in the candyshell. It has numerous rubber ribs on the back, sides and front rim of the case.This case is the best case I have ever had. Fits perfect. Almost impossible to lose grip on it. In fact I was working on something and laid my phone on the fender of my truck. Worked until after dark and got in my truck and left for home. Got a couple of miles down the road and remembered I left my phone on the hood of my truck (front fender). Of course I almost panicked but when I looked my phone was still sitting pretty on the fender and had not slid off after a mile or two on the highway. Wow I am flat impressed! The rubber ribs on this thing grip like nothing I have seen and work as shock absorbers if dropped. Case fits my phone perfectly and is not large and bulky at all like some cases. Very slim but highly protective. Makes it easy to get in and out of pocket. I recommend a screen cover to protect the front screen just to keep the screen from getting scratched. I have not found any cons to this case at all.

I really like the look and feel of this case. It is slim and tightly secured to my phone, so I have no fear of it flying or popping off if an accident should happen. Unfortunately, there are a couple of downsides that cause me to be unable to give it a full 5-star rating.First of all, the hole is not large enough at the top for me to plug in my headphones or an auxiliary cable without having to partially remove my phone from the case. This is mainly an annoyance, but does kind of defeat the purpose of a case if you have to take it off to use features of the phone.Second, I have not had this case for a very long time; however, the back is already scratched and scuffed. If you don't catch it in the light it's no big deal, but the smooth plastic shows wear and tear worse than any case I have owned in a very long time... and I'm not hard on my phones. That said, the wear and tear is more of a cosmetic issue than an actual functionality issue.Overall, I feel this case will do the job for someone like me who prefers to have a little extra protection for their phone but who is not overly abusive to the phone as a general rule.

Excellent cover, lightweight but extremely sturdy and secure. The rubber grip is excellent.

very Good case. Exactly what I had expected. looks good too. Provides good protection. Volume and Power Buttons pressing is very responsive and easy. Yes, it gets scratched, but who cares. It is better the case gets scratched than the phone!

Attractive and easy grip base

This is an excellent phone case. It fits perfectly and the rubberlike inside cushions the phone while the hard outer shell protects against hard impacts. The front edge is slightly elevated so the phone does not lie on its screen when placed screen side down, even with a glass screen protector on - not only helps for avoiding day to day scratches, but also further protection against drops.The rubber grips on the back create fun pattern but are also really grippy and help for one-handed use. When using the phone without a case or with a smooth cases it is far too easy for the phone to slip from your hand. Not so with the Grip, you won't have this slip easily from your hand!I have purchased several Speck cases and they have all been great. Over the years I have dropped my phone down concrete steps, pavements, asphalt, and the case has always done its job and my phone has always been fine after a drop. The case may have been a bit battered, but the case itself has even survived.

Great quality case. Fits well, has good grip and offers good protection. The lip around the case covers the bezel well and is slightly raised so when you place the phone face down on a flat surface is does not scratch the screen. Also had a Speck Candyshell Grip Case for my previous phone so it had been tried and trusted.
