Replaced my heavy factory starter on my BBC 489 with this small DB Electrical starter after doing some research. This type of start was used in late 1990 BBC and comes in two models 154 or 168 tooth flywheel. This one is for the 168 which has the staggered bolts which fits my Tremec 5 speed with no problems. The swap out was very easy and the picture on this page showed where to wire the ign. It required no additional hardware and started with no problems – I really like the sound this little thing makes. My issue with not starting after being hot has been resolved; since its further away from my headers.

Bolted up easy came with a shim and two bolts. Turns over my 383 Stroker with no problem stock starter didn't have enough torque once the motor got up to temp. great product

I've seen other reviews where people complain about the starter not lasting. Maybe this happens once in a while, but my experience so far is the opposite. This starter starts my 500hp big block Chevy easily, every time!I'll never go back to a larger starter. This was so easy to install; it fit between the headers and the engine block with plenty of room to spare, and it's so light I held it up and bolted it in with no problem at all.Thanks guys! Purchased over a year ago stopped working a day after install they got me a new one in the mail and it failed also instantly for a different issue first one had the soliniod go out and the second one would actuate but not turn the engine very fast at all kinda sucked to lots of work and no gain ... never even contacted them for replacement of the second one to be fair .... but I was over it decided to review them both

Nice starter for not much money... used it on my C3 Corvette 350 to replace the larger/heavier OEM unit, works fine for this application. Probably about 40% smaller and lighter than the original starter, but yet has plenty of power to spin the engine in the start cycle. mardyn
