Cardinal Sin of Weapon Accessory Engineering.
Imagine this if you will. It's 2AM, and you are jolted out of your bed by the sound of someone going through one of your windows. You grab your home defense weapon as you hear footsteps approaching your bedroom door. The intruder will be upon you any second now... you double-click the power button on your laser sight (just as instructed for constant operation) just as the door is kicked open, only to realize that the constellation of red dots it projects winks out as soon as you let the go of the button! You fumble, trying to get sight to stay on, but it is much too late.As the review title suggests, this laser sight commits the cardinal sin of weapon accessory design; that is, it does not operate consistently. Make no mistake, the idea behind it is great; using a cluster of dots rather than a single dot makes it an excellent accessory for a close-combat weapon such as a Remington Shockwave or another shotgun. Visibility is outstanding, which is doubly important in the high-stress situations such as home defense. However, in order to turn the sight on for continuous operation (that is, in order for it to stay on once you let go of the power button) you are required to double-click said button. Unfortunately, it is not very clear what constitutes a "double click" - two rapid clicks? Two slow clicks? Two clicks where you hold the button down "just so"? One rapid click and one slower click? After half an hour of clicking, I am still not sure. This issue would be forgivable for a pure range toy, but in a real self-defense scenario, this would be a terminal handicap. This is unfortunate, because it seems like an otherwise good product. However, it is utterly unsuitable for the purpose I bought it for, and so it gets one star.

Great concept, poor execution.
I bought this laserlyte center mass laser for a mossberg shockwave. The concept is perfect for close quarters home defense and I was really optimistic about this laser. I received the product in a timely manner, but my immediate gratification was short lived, as the laser refused to turn on with either set of provided batteries. Not to be discouraged, I went and bought more batteries at the store. Still not a flicker from the laser. Only after using a pencil eraser to buff up the battery contacts did the laser come to life for the first time. I adjusted the laser to match the bead sight, and I was stoked! I played around “clearing” rooms in my house for ten minutes then turned off the laser for two hours. When I got back to the laser it wouldn’t turn on again. I swapped out the batteries for another set from the store, and still no luck. Frustrated, I racked the slide and I saw a flicker on the wall of the laser. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I’m not in the mood to try this laser again. I sent it back.

Great concept, poor product quality
The laser itself is great- I love the center mass idea, and the dispersion of the pattern over distance is a great way to mimic the spread of a shotgun blast. Unfortunately, the product quality is very lacking.First off, the battery compartment is very poorly threaded aluminum. It reminds me a lot of those super-cheap LED flashlights from China that are often given as freebies at the hardware store. On my LaserLyte, they came pre-stripped. That is, removing the battery compartment cover came with shaved bits of aluminum coming out and galled threads. Replacing the battery compartment cover was an exercise in frustration, as the messed up threads on the thin aluminum prevented it from going back on easily. It's clear that at some point I'll need to find the right size tap and re-tap the threads, as I doubt I'll be able to replace the cover again once the batteries die.Next up, the clamp in the front works great to hold it to a rail, but the back section fits loosely. I was putting it on a Magpul M-LOK rail, and the slop in the fit of the rear of the laser meant I could move it back and forth while it was clamped on the firearm. Not what you want in a targeting laser! I ended up fitting 4 pieces of electrical tape on the back of the laser to take up the extra slop so it would not slip around after mounting.

Mounted on Mossburg 590 Shockwave
Fits well on 12g Mossburg 590 Shockwave using a $10.00 Monstrum picatinny rail mount. No barrel obstruction after laser was aligned. Great for when shooting from the hip. I've had no issues with the light staying on or maintaining alignment after shooting, I would buy again.

needs more development work on product
This is a very good idea however LaserLyte may need to work on development a little more. The batteries that were the laser was dead--why would anyone place batteries in a quality device while it's hanging on a shelf? Once the batteries were changed with the the extra set that came with the device when pushing the activation switch it may bring the laser on or not. Once I kind of understood how to keep the laser activated I mounted it on the gun however when the mounting screw was tighten the laser went out when the screw was loosen the laser would come back on. At this point I requested a return authorization will be taking it the the UPS Store today. Not sure if I will try another one most likely not.

Disappointed
This sat on a Magpul fore end for a 590. Never shot the shotgun.Took the laser off to work on the fore end. Screwed it back on and noticed it was loose on the rail. The bolt head had pulled through the plastic housing. The housing is soft plastic. Certainly not strong enough to provide a secure mount. Also, the laser mounts with only one screw to compress the plastic. Very poor design IMO.

Good product ... great design.....poor on/ off switch
Good design a great idea and it is a pretty good quality. I put it in a keltec shotgun and it fits great the problem is the on / off touch is to sensitive !!!You finally get it to turn on shot a round and it goes off.A simple on / off switch would have Ben better. Now it may work on a lesser caliber but I don't recommend girva shotgun!!

Accurate Blast !!
I mounted this on my Shockwave ( using a Picatinny Rail by Monstrous Tactical ) & what a great center mass laser ! You dial this baby in & you do not have to aim the Shockwave just turn the laser on put the light on the target & pull the trigger !! Devastating !! I really like this laser a lot great deal on Amazon !
