I am also still new at long term food storage. What I learned is that, once an oxygen absorber is exposed to oxygen (air), it stops working. You should only buy this product if you are able to use all 110 packs as soon as you open the package. If you open the pack and only use one, you can throw the rest away. They won't work anymore.What I don't like about this product is that they don't explain that. Granted, maybe all of us that are just learning should know that, but we we don't.....so beware!

Make sure you have all your intended Jars or vacuum bags set up before you open this products bag they come in, to not waste them.

I'm still learning the ins and outs of food storage, and I bought these not reading the description that they're all packaged together. I took out of the bag what I needed and vacuum sealed the rest, hoping that will mean they're still good next time I need to use them. We'll see!My bigger concern is that they never got warm when exposed to the air, so I honestly have no idea if they're even doing anything. I put 4 of them into a 5 gallon bag of flour but I don't know. I would not buy again for that reason.

I purchased a few packages of these to help keep moisture out of long term storage foods in 5 gallon buckets. While they work great, at first...Don't buy them unless you plan to use ALL of them, at once. I used MAYBE 6 of the pack? Saved the rest for changing them out every so often, as we open the buckets of food often for "rotating pantry stock" type foods.Even with me vacuum sealing the unused/remainder in a new bag, and storing them in a dark, cool pantry-2 months later, they're completely hard as a rock. IF these were sealed individually or were able to be resealed completely, and kept from absorbing oxygen somehow, the price would be excellent. Unfortunately, I was a bit tight on cash and kind of biting my tongue trying to justify spending this much when I did. I figured it was to keep our food investments longer, fresher, and safe to eat....so it was worth it.Until I realized I just paid $18 for 6 of the packets. Hard pressed to buy again :( I need smaller counts at an affordable price, or individually packaged. Very disappointed :(.

I initially opened the bag of absorbers to include to a few bags of dried herbs I was sending to a family member. I pressed out all air and put them into a compressed ziplock bag. Within a day or two, I went to check them again and they were BURNING hot. So hot that they melted through the plastic bags. Not sure if one reacted with the oxygen in the air and set off a chain reaction, but I will never purchase this product again. Seems dangerous.

unless you plan on using them all at once its better to buy smaller packs. I didn't think that through when I was ordering large quantity for smaller $$$
