Looks like bamboo - quick to assemble. tip: the hanger pieces have one end that is slightly smaller and slides right in once you identify the smaller end. The post twists into the base. Very stable once assembled. I actually purchased 2 of these to hang toasted bagels on for a brunch I hosted. Worked perfectly. I would purchase these again and can recommend. In my opinion they are a fair price and I love that they are not plastic! Easy to dis-assemble for compact storage.
