regarding undercharging issues
I've read a lot about "undercharging issues" on other reviews. The issue, I believe, is not undercharging but simply a dysfunction of charging LED indicator. When the charging LED indicator turns off, the unit still continues to charge the battery, therefore to overcome this issue, I simply let the batteries stay a little bit longer on charging bay and checked the batteries from time to time until such time that I was able to determine the approximate duration of additional charging time which will guide me in future chargings. Of course, somebody needs a voltage tester to check on battery charging status. I know that this is contrary to manufacturer's instruction but I've done this a lot of times and I've never had any problem. I believe this product is a lot better and very affordable compared to the more intelligent and expensive chargers on the market which ONLY charges alkaline and rechargeable batteries while this product basically charges most batteries. I bought a more expensive brand worth over 30 dollars advertised as Green Clean on another website which worked pretty well with no undercharging issues on the first month, however, the device stopped working afterwards. The more expensive charger has no warranty and does'nt have manufacturer's name on it which means that no product support is expected for any issues arising from its use. I bought 3 of the above sierra electric battery chargers and I'm fully satisfied with my purchases.

Does Charge but Key Functionality Missing
This charger does charge OK according to tests I did.USED RECHARGEABLE BATTERIESI tested the charger on NiMH Eveready Energizer and Rayovac AA Rechargeable batteries that could no longer be charged by a vanilla Rayovac charger. The charging seemed to go fine.ALKALINE BATTERIESI tested a pair of Rayovac Alkaline AA batteries. The batteries were powering an LED palm tree that was still illuminating but they were showing at the bottom of the red in a battery tester. I did have to squeeze the batteries in the charger bays to get them to register. After less than1 hour the batteries were showing as recharged by the charger and in the green on a battery tester. But the charger suffers from the lack of some key functionality, especially in view of the cost, that lowers it's overall usability and rating.CAN'T LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN when not in use. This is a pain. It has to be unplugged. If this is an issue then it needs an on/off switch.CAN'T KEEP RECHARGED BATTERIES FRESH IN IT. This is a serious shortcoming. Charged batteries can't be left in it more than 4 hours according to the instructions. In view of the charger's more complex LED condition reporting it ought to be a snap for the charger to know when a battery is fully charged and keep it fresh without degrading the battery. My old vanilla Rayovac chargers will do that. One final note. The charger as delivered is NOT the Sierra Electric JB5411 as shown in the listing. It is a Green Industries JI-14631 made by Jobar. It does look similar so this may or may not be an issue.

Worked well for a couple of months than crapped out ...
Worked well for a couple of months than crapped out on me. Thought I would get a number of years out of it being it is only used a few times a year.

Universal Battery Charger
I selected this charger because of the large variety of batteries that it would charge. I assumed that when the light changed from red (charging) to green (charged) that the battery was ready to be placed in service. Not so. It may be half charged and the only way to know for sure is to place the battery in a flashlight and observe how bright the light is. Unless you have an easily transported device that the charged battery can be tested in, I would not recommend this product. Rex Dolby

Works fine, but read directions first
I must say I was a bit discouraged by the reviews on this. When I got it I went over the instructions. It clearly states for certain batteries don't overcharge or it can cause battery damage and gives u the amount of hours. This cannot be left unattended while at work. I've never had a problem with it. It charges rechargeable batteries and regular batteries. AA and AAA cannot be charged in it though.

Charges all type of batteries.
The only complaint I have is that the way the battery charging bays are designed, the batteries pop out of them easily and sometimes aren't charging when you don't know it. You must verify that all the batteries are exactly in place before closing the lid.

Not worth the time or money
The batteries pop out unless you balance them in the slot just right. The lights never stop blinking so you never really know when they are fully charged. If you leave them in for the time stated on the instructions, they aren't fully charged. It says that if the light is red whe nyou put the battery in, then it will turn green when it is charged, but I put drained batteries in, the light would be red for a few blinks (2-3 blinks) then turn blinking green immediately and never stop blinking. After 7-8 hours, I'd check and the batteries would still be drained. I called the manufacturer and they never returned a phone call. The package didn't come with any warranty information or phone number or address to write. I had to search the company and find the phone number. No one there seemed to know what was going on. I wouldn't buy this again or recommend it to anyone.
