The Metal Detecting Bible: Helpful Tips, Expert Tricks and Insider Secrets for Finding Hidden Treasures

I have acquired two books focused on the subject of metal detecting, this is one. Like another reviewer said- it's not a bible, but it's pretty darned good. The second edition is from 2023, the most recent and current on the subject that I could find. The other book I bought, Metal Detecting, also available from Amazon, is from 2016, which is this book's first edition's date. Both are good books, some content varies, some very similar, but my takeaway is a reinforcement of essentials, with refinements in both, The Metal Detecting Bible is more valuable from a timeline perspective of information. I had the Minelab Vanquish 540 recommended to me, and NOW it's my machine. A far newer system than an old Garrett I used for work many years ago, so I felt like I needed some educational assistance to catch up with my new hobby.

This is a great book if you are new to metal detecting. It gives you an explaination for what the detector does and how it works. Its worth the money

Focuses on the basics. Good read and reference.

Phenomenal work on metal detecting. Would highly recommend to beginners as well as those experienced in the hobby and have not read already. Book simply covers the gambit, from different types of machines, how they work, different coils and how they work without being to scientific, but scientific enough. This work also gives great tips on how to ground balance, notch out, and adjust sensitivity as well as proper hunting demeanor! It even has picture suggested dress, as well as sample "dig" agreements in the back of the book. Finally it tells one how to take care of their finds, clean them, as well as the necessary other recommended tools in addition to the metal detector. Great work and should be read by novices and experts alike.

Great book for all aspects of detecting, great author and a great book

Brandon is an amazing resource and has a massive amount of knowledge! He doesn't hesitate to help you out. This book is simple and straight forward, to the point. I have followed him on his YouTube channel for a few years now. He is a very genuine person. I would recommend this book to anyone that has any interest at all in Metal Detecting! I look forward to more from him.

This book is okay if you know nothing about metal detecting. Reading it as someone who has been detecting for nearly a year, however, I didn't find much content or information that I wasn't already familiar with (and believe me, I'm no expert!). I also feel like, for having the word "bible" in the title, the book should cover topics in a much more in-depth way and contain more information.

I got this because my brother-in-law just got a metal detector and it's been his new thing. We wanted an activity that we could do together for "family bonding" and thought this was a fun and unique activity. After looking at a few different books, this was one of the ones we picked up to help guide us through this new adventure. This book is amazing! When it says it's your bible, it' speaks the truth. Whatever truth you believe in, this is it. It is a great book for seasoned hunters and newbies a like! This book does a great job of covering everything from gloves to contracts - really a great spectrum of advice for any one who enjoys metal detecting. I had no idea there was even such a thing as swing techniques until I picked up this book [ obviously I fall into the newb category ]. Amazing book! Well written, easy to understand and a must-have for anyone.

Very good read, especially for someone who is not that knowledgeable about this hobby like me. Great info about types of detectors how they work as well as everything else you need to know. Was a little unsure about purchasing this book as written by an American so was worried it would be very much focused on gold hunting; pleased to say it wasn't ! Recommend to anyone who wants to know the ins and outs of all aspects of this hobby. Very well written in my opinion.
