It didn't happen to fit my stock FS 38. Started to return it, then decided to use for parts later maybe.

It was easy to install and easy to reload string, which I’ve had to do twice so far. The twist-and-load feature makes this replacement head worth every penny, making changing the string very easy, thus not needing to repurchase the whole head every time you run out of string! String is cheaper than the whole unit! So very easy to change both the head and the string, based on your individual need. The only small disappointment is the string doesn’t go very far, thus having to reload it often, but hey, it’s easy to change, so still a win! Plus, by my experience having bought other heads in the past, none of them proved to load enough string to my satisfaction, so this one isn’t any less compensating than others. I just prefer to get more done with a single refill, as most people, I’m sure.

Bought last fall, I live in MN so it didn’t get used until spring time, it’s August 1st and it’s broken already.

I was reading some of the reviews and was a little concerned, but at the cost i decided to go ahead and give it a shot. It fits my Stihl FS-38 perfectly with no issues, despite what one of the reviews says. Strongly recommend. Even if it doesn't last very long, at this cost, I am okay with that.
