Outstanding Quality For A Reasonable Price
I saw this product at a flea market and was impressed enough I wanted to get a new, clean version. Here's what I liked about it: * It is incredibly lightweight. I'm assuming the lenses are plastic, but the image quality is still very good. And by being so lightweight, you can hand-hold it. * Further, the straight-on angle of the eyepiece is such that you can hold it right up to your eye -- it is not angled in a way that requires a tripod. * You can't beat a 60X zoom. Yikes! * The optics are pretty impressive. I was reading license plates of cars across a large mall parking lot. * It's a spotting scope, meaning that as you look through it, everything is upside up as it should be. * It comes very professionally packaged -- a nice inner pouch, and a very elegant outer case. I ended up returning mine for just one reason: I'm a professional photographer and I found the optics were just not quite up to snuff compared to my much more expensive Kowa telescope. The optics on the Barska were good enough that I only noticed it when I compared the two telescopes side-by-side. But since I already owned the Kowa outright, I decided to just stay with that, even though I can only use the Kowa with a tripod. If you're pretty good with your hands, you can hand-hold this Barska with no problem, particularly at 20X. This is a nice looking item with very good image quality in a snappy and comprehensive package. I highly recommend this for the amateur or enthusiast.

Broke on 3rd Time Out
When I first received this scope in December 2011, it functioned adequately. The color quality was not good but clearness of the image was sufficient to see individual hits on the target at 50 yards. I could just make out individual hits at 100 yards on other targets. It met my basic need viewing targets at the range and was acceptable for the price. On my third trip out in July 2012, the objective lens retaining ring (made of plastic) broke allowing the objective lens to pop out of the tube. I did not expect a brilliant image from this scope, but I did not expect it to break so easily.

Great scope, great package at a great price
I bought this scope to zero in my AR-15 at about 100-yards. It worked well, and I can see my bullet holes up to about 150-yards. Beyond that, I can focus on my target, but struggled to count the number of bullet holes. This scope is great for the $109 price, especially with the extras you don't get with the more expensive brands. And it held up well against my friend's expensive $450 Leupold (that he got without a tripod or hard case). Unfortunately I needed something strong (good up to 300-yards), and returned this scope for the Barska Benchmark 25-125X88 for $15 more. My advice, pick the magnification power that fits your needs and expectations. Then compare prices before comparing brands.

Good spotting scope for those on a budget
I purchased this spotting scope back in 2008 and have had a good amount of time behind the lens. I purchased this spotting scope based on my budget at the time and the reviews that I read on Amazon.com. After two years of use, I can finally add some constructive feedback about this product. Pros: Comes with a nice carrying case Included tripod is a very handy accessory Build quality is very nice at this price point Clarity of the glass is decent at 100 yards Large magnification with a very nice fine tune control knob Cons: There is no height adjustment to the tripod - but that isn't to be expected at this price point Front lens cap does not stay on and falls off easily during transport Eye-relief - this is my biggest problem with the spotting scope. You REALLY have to get in very close to get a good image. This issue is greatly enhanced when you're using the higher magifications. Additionally, I would not recommend going with the highest setting of the magnification - your going to have issues with straining your eyes. Overall, would I purchase this item again based on my experience and my needs/situation? I would have to say no and here is why. I originally purhcased this item because I was on a limited budget, I didn't think that I needed something beyond 100 yards, and I didn't know too much about spotting scopes and the differences compared to higher-end ones. Knowing what I know now and using higher quality spotting scopes, I should have just bit the bullet and went with a better spotting scope. That being said, if you're not able to put down the coin for a better quality spotting scope, than this one should serve its purpose - esp at this price point. I think it just comes down to your needs and budget.

tough looking scope, looks to be well built, love the focusing dial, its in a good spot while your trying to focus and the tripod is nice and stable!
