Would recommend to pet owners
Is it heavy? Yes. Is it loud? Also yes. But does it have the suction power and accessories to help you manage the only downside to your furry friend? YES. Every lightweight/quiet vacuum I’ve ever owned failed in that department, and therefore, at its job IMO.The pet handi-mate is AMAZING. I’ve never had one, but now would never go without - so much easier for throughly cleaning cushioned furniture and such. Only criticism would maybe be how easy it is for the brush to stop rolling from flexible cushions being sucked in a bit; as well as the suction power through it sometimes leaving things to be desired.Only con: hose does not stretch easily. I’ll believe that it CAN stretch as far as advertised, but not easily and not without tipping the vacuum over. The hose with the main extender can comfortably/easily reach about 6-7’, after that you might want to anchor the vacuum somehow or just move it closer.

Freakin' Powerful / allergen and dander reducer
I have now had this vacuum for year or so and I just barely filled the bag they gave to us. We have a cat and a household member allergic to dander and vacuuming with this significantly cuts down on their allergies. The detachable parts are easy to use, durable, and extend fairly far out. I vacuum corners, vents with built up dust and cat toys fairly often and I never have an issue with it! I also love the adjustable carpet / height settings. Downside would be that it weighs about a ton and a half, but this thing is WORTH IT.

Great Vacuum But Not Without Unnecessary Issues
Surprisingly, this was Consumer Reports Best Upright a couple of years in a row, given its issues.Pros:--Excellent suction both on bare floors and carpet--Large dirt capacity--Dirt sensor--Heavy: using it is a great workoutCons:--Heavy: it's weight makes it unwieldy and prone to tipping over, especially when using hose extension, making it unsafe at times--"Bag full" sensor unreliable at times--The clip that holds extension tube on the side is completely useless (too flexible). Needed to apply a rubber band to keep it from falling off repeatedly during use--The button that holds extension tube onto flexible tubing is very poorly designed and thus not secure, resulting in the extension often detaching during useIt's odd that in many respects, this high quality vacuum is undone by the issues mentioned above due to sloppy design and cheap material.

Very powerful
Awesome suction power. Really gets the job done. Also like the bare floor setting. Carpet setting really delivers with the added bonus of power drive making vacuum easier to maneuver. It is heavier than the Panasonic upright that it replaced which is the only negative but the Panasonic left behind a lot of dirt. Some reviewers said they don't like the short hose but I haven't found that to be a problem because of the easily accessible extendable wand attachment.

Still great after two years
Came back to write a very positive review after two years of using this vacuum regularly. You never see long term reviews! But after doing much research, we bought the elite vacuum two years ago, and I'm happy to say we have not had any problems, and it still has strong suction. I love this vacuum. We live in a small home if that is something that will affect your buying decision. Additionally, we have a dog and cat - still nothing negative to report!

Does an amazing job
It was time for a new vacuum, my old one smelt like pets after you vacuumed. Not good. I had a hoover before, this is my first Kenmore.I could not see myself paying more than $300 for a vacuum, just insane so I looked up the best vacuums for pet hair on consumer reports and this one ranked pretty good and within my price restrictions. It did not let me down. It lights up when picking up dirt which is really cool. I really like the power button has three settings, off, carpet, and floors. I have short hair dogs and it does a great job of picking up their hair on the carpet as well as the tile. It is also pretty lightweight, so it isn't a chore to do the job. I would purchase again.

Not good for hardwood floors, hose is awkward
I’ve had this for a couple of years and I just ordered a more lightweight vacuum. I have mostly hardwood floors and I don’t recommend this. It works great on carpet but the base is too bud and inflexible. It doesn’t get under things well. Using the hose and attachments is such a pain. The hose is too short so you can’t just pull it out to suck up something, you have to drag this big heavy vacuum as close as possible or get the extensor out which just isn’t convenient. It’s very clunky and awkward and heavy so it doesn’t make the process of vacuuming much fun. I find myself putting off vacuuming because of it. If I had more carpet I might like this better, but I have found that the hardwood floor setting doesn’t work that well. I end up using the carpet setting on hard floors and that blows stuff around but at least it is sucking things up. I ordered a lighter weight more nimble vacuum for people who want to do everything g on the fly. This vacuum is cumbersome and clunky and just not a super great experience.
