Hopeful focus & ideas to help a friend ☺️
I like that this book addresses the topic directly in touching briefly in what happened (a divorce or break up) but majorly focuses on what the kid of these two homes may be experiencing and how to help them. Which I think is great, because sometimes it can be as simple as “What happened?” and then “How can I help?”I think this book can be helpful to a kid who’s friend is going through this and can gain insight on having compassion and grace for this situation. Plus, even for a kid who are themselves experiencing a situation of having two homes could find some ideas and strategies of what to do next and how to look for positives in their situation that understandably is painful & confusing. They would of course need time to process the change, but I like to believe this book would offer them some ideas too.I am an instructional assistant (assist teacher by assisting students with learning) that works in a special day classroom with Special Ed students. Although the pandemic is happening and online learning is in full swing this first school week, I have already encountered a new student who shared that they live in “two homes” like this book mentions. So as the year progresses, this book may offer me ideas in what to suggest to that student or even to the other students if they ask how to help.Anyway, sweet book that is very well focused on affirming the child is loved and on positive things that a friend could do to help support. Wonderful topic to address and enlighten for kids.

The best book for separation for small kids
Can't tell you how much this book has meant to my 3 yo as my husband and I are newly separated. he said he wished he had a pink dragon friend. The only warning I would give is that there is one page that has a bubble in the imagery that has the words separation/divorce and one other word, can't remember. If you are like us and not choosing to introduce those words at this time, just know they are there, but not part of the text, so we just choose not to read them.

It helps children understand
It's very good to help them understand about separated parents and 2 homes, but I do change some of the words, as it can get a bit complicated at times and for a 3 year old it's a little hard to understand. My 7 year old loves it and helps him with his feelings when he feels sad or conflicted. It's sad, but for those who are in our situation; It definitely comforts the kids.

Not for 3 year old
I bought the dragon and book for my grandson. He loves the stuffed animal but I'm going to wait several months before introducing him to the books. The stories are well written and I believe will help him but still just a bit young yet.

Love Shines Here
This book is monumentally needed in this day and time. It handles this prickly subject with care and love the best I've ever seen. I highly recommend this Book for all children and parents. Parents need this book to help them help their kiddo adjust. Kiddos on both sides need this book. It is a superb book on separation of families, but it is also a terrific book on childhood friendships. Thank you Steve Herman for sharing your wonderful book with us by way of Drew and Diggory Doo.

Excellent book for parents and teachers to help kids deal with separation and divorce
This book is a must read to help children deal with the stress of divorce/separation and feelings of being torn between two homes. I am a teacher and Mr. Herman's books are my favorites for teaching children social skills . The children absolutely loves the dragon Diggory Doo and all the lessons he learns as a pet. This book did not disappoint with my online tutoring students and I can't wait to read it to my brick and mortar students. This book is great for children of all ages.

For kids who's friend's parents are living separately.
I needed a book to help explain to my grandson, why HIS parents divorced...instead this explains to kids why their friend's parents live separately. Not what I was expecting.I'll continue looking for the proper book.
