Great filter, perfect for our application.
This was easy to install and works great.I have a water treatment that uses activated charcoal. Over time the charcoal granules break down and clog the aerators in the sinks. This required me to clean and or replace the aerators every week or so.This filter was installed after the treatment system, with the larger size screen. Since I installed it a month ago we have not noticed any reduction in water pressure or had to clean the aerators.I like the clear filter canister; I can look in and see the status of the mesh (and do see some particles captured there). The cleaning cycle works well to flush them out, so it won't be necessary to keep buying filter cartridges.I don't know why I waited so long to do this!

Well made device but WELL WATER FOLKS TAKE NOTE
So I installed this product a little over a week ago. It is installed right after the well pump and before any other filtration. As others have pointed out - the filter is definitely well made and you can feel it in the heft of the device. And I am certain if you have low sediment in your water this filter will work great for you (notice I didn't say WELL :D) However, if you have well water with high sediment or solids, such as sand, rust, rock or anything in between - this filter may cause you ire. I have to clean my filter every two days and I don't mean just backflushing - I mean take apart and manually brush off the sediment from the 40 micron screen. Mine becomes so saturated with sediment that you can't even see the screen anymore. Water pressure drops to nil and that's all she wrote. Besides the backwashing, it would have been most excellent engineering to be able to push a spring-loaded plunger to send a ring of bristles to wipe away the collected sediment without having to actually remove the product from the housing. I know it can be done because that's the way my UVC water treatment light works - and I don't have to disassemble it to clean the quartz tube. It's a great product for some - maybe even most - but not all. So know this BEFORE you invest in one and become frustrated with the constant cleaning routine. I may be swapping mine for a larger unit - like where I can get a 5 gallon size? :)

This is a great spins down system
This spin down system works well. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to remove debris from clogging your pipes. It also works great in combination if you have a whole house filtration system. It helps reduce buildup so your filtration system can last longer.

Quality filter!
This is a quality product and I suspected it was a soon as I picked up the box. I guess I’m kind of old-school when it comes to plumbing products, if it feels heavy enough to be exhibit A in a murder trial, it’s probably OK. The primary housing is a quality piece of cast brass expertly machined to appropriate standards. It comes with fittings, allowing you to convert it from 1 inch to three-quarter inch and as an extra bonus it comes with two shark bite, three-quarter inch adapters. These easy to use push connectors cost $10 apiece if you go to buy them separately. The ball cock on the bottom serves as an easy clean function, and also will release the pressure on the system in case you want to take it apart to give the filter a more detailed cleaning. The filter is a permanent one made of stainless steel or some closely related alloy.Things you should know; first it’s a clear housing in a high impact quality plastic. This allows you to visually inspect the filter to see if it needs a flushing. However, if it’s in direct sunlight, it can turn into kind of a terrarium, and you’ll get algae growth. You can solve that by draping an old towel over it. The other thing you should know is it’s not really a filter it’s a pre-filter. It is a 50 µm built-in system. It will handle dirt, fine sediment, bits of sand even rust, but it’s not going to take out absolutely everything. Depending on your situation and the quality of water, it might be fine by itself or you might want to follow it with a different system down stream with a 1 or 5 µm filter to really do the job. This prefilter will greatly extend the life of your filtration system. Make those expensive replacement filters last longer.

Design flaws
Does effectively filter out sediment, but backwash claims are very deceptive. You will have to take screen out and clean (in my case) every week or water pressure will greatly be compromised. Poly hose is terrible in is shipped in a coil and you cannot get it to hang straight down to drain out bowl, you have to hold bucket and poly line at same time and operate valve to drain down. Going to try heating up poly line with heat gun to see if I can get it to hang down better. I would not recommend purchasing.
