basically works
EDITED 10/15/22...After some back and forth with CS I found a better one of their holders that is working out a lot better so I will raise my rating because of the messages with them and how helpful they were. I now have ASIN: B08FD59L2Q which is a bit larger for my needs and my phone fits it nicely. Thanks again to Amy with DesertWest for the help!Original...I liked the idea of this as I have not had a phone holder in my car for a while. I have tried a few but with the cases I have used or had items attached to the back of the case to hold my phone easier, I have not found a holder that REALLY holds it. What I mean is that I have an otter box case on my phone and attached handle on the back of the case. The bottom lip so to say the phone will sit on but the sides are not long enough to really securely hold it that I am not in fear of it falling off.I have not had an issue yet but If the side holders and bottom were just a 1/4 longer to consider that some people's phone cases are just a bit bigger, and most people will have a case if they are prone to dropping said phone and wanting the protection that they are going to be bulkier than what the holder can take.In the end so far it has held my phone but I an not 100% confident that will always be the case. My phone currently is about 5/8th " thick with the case and hand holder attached and this holder is just a bit shorter on the bottom and for the sides to hold it.

ALMOST got rid of it…. Glad I didnt
Let me start this review off with, there is an extreme difference, in how you’re placing your mount. (On dashboard). I had the mount set up and positioned like the 2nd picture, on this review. (used the pic from another review). I have a leather material dashboard that not many things tend to suction easily to. When this first arrived, I initially tried to use the suction alone, with no pad. The suction didn’t even TRY to stick. Not until I stuck it onto the black pad. I thought the pad did well.. until not even 24 hours later, the back part of the pad was rising/lifting, and eventually just fell & dropped on the floor. This all happened without EVER putting a phone onto the mount. It literally dropped itself…I saw this “mount hack” for being able to RE-stick a mount back onto your dashboard, after you take it off. I decided to try this for my situation, so I can just try the suction 1 more time.I was getting ready to throw this away and give up as this is my 4th time buying a different mount, & it not sticking. I was thinking it was my dashboard, or me.I did end up detaching the suction from the pad, (had to use a credit card) & then ran the clear suction piece, under hot water for about 1 minute. I let it finish air drying, & decided to give it another try. I immediately noticed the suction was SO MUCH more sticky then before I wet it with hot water. I then decided to set up my mount, how it’s pictured in the 1st picture of this review. I then realized, that per the pictures for this mount, this is actually how the mount should be placed. The adjustable nozzle, should be underneath, not ontop. It also gives it a much further reach & allows you a way closer distance to your mounted phone. —— Ever since I did those 2 adjustments, wetting the suction with hot water & “properly” setting the mount up on my dashboard, i now, after 5 years…. Have a mount that sticks onto my dashboard without dropping!!!! And it’s very sturdy and does not feel cheap. Gives me a sense of relief that it’ll actually hold my iPhone 13 pro max. It’s not too big of s phone, but it does hold some weight to it. Which does easily make car mounts drop. So I’d say this is a good product … after I figured it out lol

But Buy Buy!!
I have bought many of these throughout the years for all of the different cars I’ve driven. My first one was years ago and it’s still hanging on. Two of them were used on cars in New England. One a Nissan Rogue another an f150 and they work well. I personally do not use the vent attachment just because I don’t enjoy the phone there, so all of mine have been stuck to the dash. The latest two I purchase were for Florida cars and they have stood up to the heat. It’s very easy to remove the phone from the holder, however you will not be able to remove the black circle that sticks to the dash. Sturdy with very little vibration. Will only buy this product

Adjustable features
Looks nice, goes onto dash easily. Really nice adjustable features to go up and down sideways and at various angles. The only downside I found was that after a few months, it would no longer stick on dash and needed to use gorilla glue to hold it in place.

DON'T use the air conditioning mount and stick the back on good
I live in Florida, so my car gets really hot in the summer. Not quite as hot as out west, but sticky things falling off the window and dash midday is definitely a problem. I was looking for something durable that would hold up to the heat. This right here fits the bill. Not only does it stay on great in the heat, but my dash is slightly curved, so the adhesive at the front of that plate is not really on there. It still does just fine. I even have it at an angle below where the stand is so it's in front of a vent, and I have had zero problems.A few notes:I would definitely make sure the back is on good, as the way it's designed, it can act like a lever and the weight will pull more towards the back. Keeping it oriented correctly (not like it's pictured in this listing) also helps distribute the weight better.I also would not use the vent attachment just as a general rule, not specific to this mount. Air conditioning vents are not built to have any weight on them, so you can break them pretty easy. They are also often a pain in the ass to replace, and can involve ripping the dash apart to get to. It's not worth it, trust me. The adhesive is much better.

Not the best
I bought it for my z fold galaxy but it was too small bc my case has an s pen. I used the option to attach to the vent, but it didn't work well for me. It moved around a lot. I used it for over one year, but it was mostly a hassle.
