Chavant CLAYETTE Medium - 2 Lbs. Professional Oil Based Sulfur Free Sculpting Clay - Grey

I am new to using any type of clay besides my days of using it as a kid. After doing some research I decided on this. I found this to be easy to work with. It started out pretty firm but it warms up a lot when you work with it and becomes very pliable almost too much so if you are making something small because I ended up smooshing something I did on one side while working on the other side. I can’t really blame it on the clay but maybe my technique? It was such a small piece I just didn’t see any other way to work on it other than to pick it up which kept it to warm. Like I said I am new. Otherwise it doesn’t have smell which I found pleasant. I left it out overnight to test the no drying out claim and it was the same two days later. I ordered a soft before I worked with this which I will probably return because I believe this is adequate.

Nice clay. I'm not using it as much as I had hoped, mostly because it takes some time for me to warm it up and soften it. This is fine -- it also means I trust it to hold details. Hopefully it becomes more convenient to work with as the weather warms up going into summer.

No odor. Love the color. Definitely a great product.

Really enjoyable to use. Easy to move under fingers, soft is very soft and medium gets about the same way once you play with it in your hands but leave it to chill and it keeps a good hold of all the details. I bought NSP as well and as it does work good it tends to be very sticky, my tools are covered in it. This clay does not stick. I wish only that it was a more grayish color rather than this sicky off white but that is only a cosmetic preference. All and all I enjoy the clay. Hard would be a good option as well if it was offered. But if you need a clay, easy to apply and sculpt than I would suggest this. Making a cast will be my next steps to see if the clay holds up.

I got this to make impressions from glass. It is very stiff. I warmed it in the microwave to soften it and it did soften a little. It was still a struggle to roll it out. It is hard to get a smooth surface and will pull away in small bubbles when you try. I will try the soft and see if that works better.

Works well. Smooth not sticky and holds detail well
