Nice way to automate your coop.
Good quality product. Adjustments are very tiny and hard to know how big of an adjustment you're making, so takes a few days of tweaking based on how things go at sunrise and sunset. Would be nice to have an easy way to use a switch to open and close when needed. Our chickens have been inside each night before the door closes with no issue and they're happy to be out earlier in the mornings with the sunrise.

Locks your chickens in. Locks your chickens out. And now, just won't close.
Installation was fairly simple and we installed it right away as I have been wanting an automatic chicken door for a long while. However, at this time I wish we had never bought it. All I have currently is a fairly expensive contraption on the side of my chicken coop that won't work as we need it to.After 4 nights of carefully adjusting the screw that is supposed to control the closing time, I FINALLY got the door to stay open long enough for our chickens to go in to roost in the evenings. The first 3 nights, they were locked out and I had to let them in another way.Tonight I was thrilled to see (after today's adjustment) that the door stayed open long enough for them all to get through and tucked in for the night. But, it WILL NOT CLOSE! We tried everything we could think of to get it to close again and nothing. Just a dangerous hole in the side of our coop. The door is not good (and in fact dangerous) if it won't work. I've contacted the company and have not heard back.If I ever get this issue resolved I will re-review based on long term usage.

WORST INSTRUCTIONS EVER
I previously had another brand automatic coop door that barely lasted 3 years before I gave up on it. I did my research again and landed on this door. I read the reviews about poor instructions and had hoped that the manf would have taken the time to improve the instructions. I was wrong, they are horrible, nearly worthless. The time it takes to hang it on the wall is ok, but the time (weeks!) it takes to get it set up to work correctly, is totally unacceptable. Some of the trouble shoot directions suggest rebuilding part of the circuit board! While it may or may not prove to be an acceptable product for use, it is totally unacceptable that the manf doesn't take the time to get the instructions for use improved. I can not recommend the product for those reasons.

Well built and easy to install
I previously purchased a less expensive brand and the motor was not strong, so the door kept stopping halfway up the track, so I had to manually push the buttons to get the door up; that was a waste of time, so I returned it and purchased the JVR Auto Chicken Coop door instead. This door has been wonderful! It took a couple of hours to install and I need to notch out an area for the door hinge to get past (Easy enough, with a grinder and sanding disc).A few of the reviews mentioned chickens getting caught under the door, but I have not seen that as an issue at all. The door moves very slowly and chickens are able to move, also the safety sensor stops the door if there is anything in the way so I am not sure that this would be an issue.I had an install issue (completely my fault). The safety sensor was stopping the door before the bottom of the hole because the actuator arm was crossing the path of the sensor and stopping the door. I sent a message to the Support team at JVR and received a response within 1 day and I realized my install error, corrected it, and now everything works perfectly!Thank you for a great product!

Tricky install but seems to work
Lot of folks said the directions were tricky. They indeed are not well laid out, but if you read through the whole booklet first and then start install, it makes more sense. That said, it took me about 30 minutes to install into my coop last night, and did indeed close about 20 minutes after sunset. So seems to be working.I am thrilled that it comes with a wire to convert to solar! I have power by the coop, but much better to have it on solar for power outages and such.Couple things I would like to improve:1. What does a 1/4 turn adjustment on the light sensor do? It says 1/4 turn per adjustment...2. It seems without a bottom rail for the door to slide into there might be an issue with predators being able to pry it open.. Would be an easy add to the design to increase safety for the critters.3. The directions to adjust the light sensor are conflicting. In the light sensor adjustment photo, it says this by the top adjustment screw:Clockwise-Open Later DAWNCounter Clockwise Open Early DAWNAnd by the bottom adjustment screw, it says:Clockwise = Close Later/Darker DUSK, Open Early DAWNCounter Clockwise = Close Lighter/Earlier DUSK, Open Later DAWNHoping it's a reliable door, but time will tell!

Wish I saved the box to return it
I read the reviews on this before buying and they were mostly positive. For me it does not consistently work. Sometimes it won’t lift up sometimes it won’t go down. It has only worked about 5% of the time. I’ve only had it for about 3-4 weeks. Tried all the trouble shooting images in the manual as well. Not happy with my purchase.

Did NOT out of the box
I spent 45 minutes installing this product and it did not work out of the box. Make sure the motor and everything works before wasting your time to installing the product. They have a trouble shooting guide (for this exact issue), meaning it is a common problem. They also included 2 light sensors. Why would a company waste money sending you a spare part, because they have cheap parts and the first one may not work...I followed the guide and it still did not work. I contacted the company and they gave even more complicated instructions . I would not recommend this product as their instructions were poor and the guide to troubleshoot is best suited for those who have knowledge in electical electronics circuit boards. The plastics and parts were cheap plastic and would erode under normal UV exposure. Waste of money. Take the time and find someone who puts better care and attention into quality assurance.
