This CS machete is like an Enep Thai machete, 16 inch 3mm, heavy blade MIC and Nice buy.
Made in China blade, Not S Africa like some Cold Steel products, all in all pretty nice at under twenty dlrs. Five Stars for the machete type knife, has bevel but not fully sharpened.Sheath is useable, but the one I had was tight fit and sticking to the blade. The poly fabric sheathe that all the popular machetes come with are just temporary until you get a real sheath. But I have several they are useable and get 'er done.Five stars for this one from Amazon.

Very Nice!
It's razor sharp and the sheath is incredible. When you perpendicularly pull your fingerprint across the blade it rings a little. To me that says it's really sharp. Which it is. Bet you could shave with it. Love the handle. Almost too nice to use. But it's in the Jeep now for offroading/camping.

Best for huge hands
This thing is a beast. It's over an eighth inch thick with no distal taper and very heavy for a machete. It handles more like an axe than a machete in terms of balance. It's no surprise that it's an awesome chopper. It also shrugs off batoning. I'm not a huge fan of the handle size or angle. It effectively gives the blade a kukri like forward bias but not quite enough to give it the advantage of kukri like handling. When swinging the machete any direction other than nearly straight down the blade tries to twist in the hand a little unless you lead the swing with your hand. It's easy once you figure it out but it's not intuitive. This machete has unique handling properties. Don't think you can just pick it up and be good without some practice. Once learned, it's got a lot of versatility. The edge has plenty of belly and it has a useful point - unique for a machete, but not for Cold Steel. The edge starts a few inches from the handle allowing you to choke up on it for detail cutting. The blade can be held in a pinch grip near the balance point for fine detail work. The handle has a gigantic choil that protects the hand from slipping up onto the blade. Cold Steel's "dual use" design philosophy of practical utility without sacrificing tactical utility is readily apparent in this machete.Edit: I gave this to my son who is 6' 5". He's a giant bear of a man with huge hands. The handle fit his hands well and he doesn't have the blade rolling issue that I did.

Black bear bowie
I really like Cold Steel Machetes I own several of them, some folding knives, some fixed blades, some neck knives. Why do I buy Cold Steel because of the value and construction of the products. Back to the Bowie, its a large blade, I really like the curves and looks of the knife/chete. Even if its fairly big its not heavy making it a good camp knife. The spine is not too thick it is machete thin because its a machete. It has some flex, the blade is 1055 carbon steel with a nice spring to it. A steel hand guard coated with the polypropylene used on the handle. It feels pretty nice on the hand but in wet conditions it might slip out, I installed some rubberized grip stickers like the ones I use on my guns for a better grip. Mine came sharp with a nice grind, the false edge has some sharpness to it but not as sharp as the blade edge. It has a nice pointy tip and looks pretty sturdy. The sheath works good and holds the knife. The machete is made in south africa the sheath is made in china. I chopped some light vegetation in the back yard works good, I chopped some small branches it works. You can easily do some wood shavings with it and its a very good defensive knife, slashing and stabbing softer stuff like animal flesh not a problem. What it lacks, well being a shorter machete it needs more weight for better chopping power. If the blade was a bit thicker it would be perfect. But for the price and for what it is it doesn’t ask for anything. Multi use mini machete/ knife that looks cool, handles well and can tackle different tasks with no problems. I highly recommend it.

Be careful
I ordered this machete after watching numerous reviews which touted the toughness and durability of this knife. What the reviews were about and what the Amazon seller said was that I was getting a 1055 blade made in South Africa--what I got was 65MN steel made in China. The knife comes in a plastic bag with a Cold Steel label stapled to it. The label from Cold Steel says 65MN but on the back it says 1055--very deceptive there cold steel. I know Cold Steel was bought out by GSM Outdoors and after several calls--they are responsible for this. I was never a big fan of Lynn Thompson but he sold good products at a fair price and his company was not deceptive--I can't say the same for GSM--their CS didn't know anything about knives nor did they care. I own quite a few Cold Steel knives that I've purchased over many years and I will cherish them because I will never buy another Cold Steel product. Not happy with Cold Steel or GSM right now--very deceptive

Sharp out of the BOX!
when i ordered a machete from homedepot, had to return due to it not being sharp. i would have waisted many man-hours sharping. decided to purchase from Cold Steel on Amazon, and was not disappointed. The Machete came with an included Sheath and was very sharp end to end. i decided to wrap the handle for added grip. All in all, was a great purchase and cold steal will always get my business for all my future purchase's.
