Police Academy (20th Anniversary Special Edition)

Accurate documentary of what Police Academies in the 80s
I found this to be an accurate documentary on the recruitment troubles a metropolitan police department had in the 80s, where the mayor ultimately demanded they recruit a more diverse pool of officers. It also covers the bad side and old school way of policing, but most importantly, it follows Cary Mahoney, who didn't aspire to be a cop, but turned out, along with most of his recruiting class, to be among the most resourceful and community friendly cops to have ever served.Seemss they need to return to this way of recruiting officers.

Fun
Glad I could find this available for rent. Trying to educate my son on some of the “finer” comedies of my youth. I forgot about the podium scene. But it is ok. He is 18.

Nice throwback for mom and dad!
Classic that I loved. However, I had forgotten about some of the inuendos and nudity. Kids may catch on the comedy and not so much the nuduty. Keep it to mom and dad for a nice throwback.

Police Academy - First Movie
This film has been edited from the original film shown at theaters - which I saw. A the end of this "version" I wondered what had happened because this was very funny and enjoyable film! I demand a refund - haven't figured out the layers to get this.

An oldie but a goodie
I like everything about it and with michael winslow in it, he makes the greatest sound effects.

Hilarious
An all time classic, one of the funniest movies of all time, especially when Bubba Smith yells at the dog to sit and all the cadets hit the ground. A must for any movie buff's library.

Not funny
Not good. Falls flat. So inappropriate for young teens.

Hilarious
Hilarious comedy, proper laugh out loud funny, Police Academy (1984) is one of those rare comedic films with quite an intellectual message. It's about a failing police institution (the Police Academy) opening itself up to new people and the benefits which can be gained in community policing. However it's not as simple as that!Steve Guttenberg and co are all excellent actors and deliver a seriously funny bunch of characters in this film. Hugh Wilson has delivered a work which fizzles a little towards the end and loses narrative force but nevertheless is still top class tight comedy with brilliant sketches from one scene to another and it is a classic.Fantastic for lightening the mood!

"That was very, very, very, very good!"
I've always loved this movie from day one back in the eighties! But to relive it on Bluray actually gave me a newfound appreciation for it!The picture and sound quality is a major improvement over the DVD. Colors are brighter, sound is more alive. Of course there's a fair amount of unsurprising grain here and there you could hardly mind given how old the movie is, but the overall experience made it feel like I was seeing it for the first time, even though I pretty much know it all by heart. This is an all-around feel-good supercool comedy that scores on many levels. The script is comic brilliance, music a huge delight, characters all enjoyable, thanks to excellent casting and acting, all handled by sure-fire direction that knows how to make the jokes hit home. It's the kind of comedy you can enjoy by yourself or with friends and especially with a crowd, the bigger the better. And unlike the many sequels it spawned that aren't even half as good, this one is guaranteed not to let anyone down, even those who've already seen it. That's a promise.
