could i use this to make soda?

Yes you could. After mixing your soda add champagne yeast into it and stir. The pour into your bottles and add however many drops you want per bottle. After 72 hours refrigerate your soda.

These look like large sugary lozenges. Wouldn't two large sugar pills make a 22 oz. bottle of beer too sweet?

I add two of these each 740 ml bottle of beer. Over a period of 2-3 weeks, the remaining live yeast converts the sugar into CO2 which carbonates the beer. I have never experienced sweetness resulting from any residual sugar content.

why don't you use regular sugar instead of tablet?

I tend to make 5.5 gal or 11 gal batched. I keg the 5 or 10 gallons and use the carbonation drops for 5 - 10 beers. I use the bottled beer for competitions or to give to friends. It is easier than adding bulk sugar just for a few bottles.

can you use these in soda pop

No, these sugar drops feed residual active yeast after fermentation to cause carbonation in beer or wine. You would use CO2 to carbonate soda pop.

Good for bottle conditioning

I no longer use these on a regular basis as bottle priming with sugar solution is easier and much cheaper, but for a beginning homebrewer who's a little leery of bulk priming, these work in a pinch. Good to have on hand in case you forget to add sugar solution to your bottling bucket and have to prime in the bottle!
