Perfect for a real gas can filler tube
IF you are frustrated with all the stupid filler nozzles that come on 5 gallon gas cans for your mower, generator, trimmer, etc.... this is perfect. I recently bought two so I could put a vent on my gas can to allow it to properly drain and so that I would not have to be a contortionist when trying to fill my mower. It works PERFECT. Drained one 5 gallon jug into my wife's car this morning. The filler nozzle is long, at least 12" & the right size. It tapers at the exit so that it fits perfect in a auto gas filler tube with the Unleaded Restrictor. Gas flowed fast, clean, no drips, vent worked well. If your plastic gas jug has no vent as mine didn't, this comes with one you can install. I simply drilled a 1/2" hole in the opposite side from the nozzle on my Jug and pushed the vent in. You need to wallow the 1/2 in drill just a tad and then the vent will fit very tight. I like these so much - I just ordered two more. I will throw away the filler nozzle that came on my jug that doesn't permit me to fill a car without sloshing all down the outside and getting on you, your shoes and paint. A well made product!

So much better...
I now have 5 of these for my gas cans. I keep throwing out the useless no-spill spouts that end up spilling more gas than not. These replacement spouts are working great so far. I use on 5-gallon cans to fill my boat and jetski. Not a drop spilled yet and they drain the can much faster. I use on 2 different style cans bought at Walmart. They come with 2 different threaded caps for different cans, some screw on tops, and a vent. I drilled my can for the vent using one size down from a 1/2 inch bit. The vent snapped in very tightly. With a 1/2 inch bit, I had to put a little glue on the vent to seal it and hold it in. I can't say how they will hold up after dozens of uses, but so far, so good. Now if only the government would get a clue that the no-spill spouts are no good and stop mandating them on new cans. They all leak like a sieve and break after a few uses.

a bit more more worth it
I have a couple older can and a newer EPA can. However the spouts from the old ones are taking a beating and not as user friendly and the new can's spout just plain stinks. I tried one of these to see if they are better than the ones I've seen in local stores and I must say, I am glad I got this full kit. It comes with 2 different threaded /sized caps so that was good. The spout is stiff enough and not flimsy so it doesn't flop everywhere when you are using a larger can like 5 gallons at a weird angle (I have sports cars and motorcycles so imagine the odd designs on those things). Also worked great filling mowers and weed wackers on the ground which I couldn't do before without some decent spillage. The replacement vents seems fine, I don't need to replace mine but I did add it to one that did not which is great - it stopped that surge flow of gas when the gas can is gulping for air leading to splashing/spillage. Although I would've liked it as a few bucks cheaper, all things considered, if you are unsure about what fits and maybe what needs replacing etc etc - just get this kit and have it all on hand. Save the trouble. I'm sure you know how it goes, intend to replace the one thing and the replacement does fit or isn't as compatible with pieces that you haven't planned to replace etc etc. Everything you need in one bag plus extra pieces to MacGyver with just in case.Pros:- quality spout - not too flimsy and decent build- seal ring in base cap is included and does a good job to- all parts in one kit plus probably can use spares for other application or improving older cans i.e. the vents- spout cap has latch cord so it doesn't get lost or fall to ground to gather dirt- mesh filter in base (not a fine one but mesh is about 1mm or so grid)Cons:- pricier than most kits but I think can be overlooked considering the completeness of the kit

In 2009 I started spilling gas! That came to an end today in 2014!
I do not know why gas cans had to change in 2009. I rarely spilled gas when filling, transporting, or fueling my machines. Yes the small engines like my trimmer and chainsaw were a little trick because they were low to the ground and small tanks. But I learned to use a small gas can and not fill it full. Cans were cheap also, I got 2 5 gallon cans to hold water for flushing toilets when the power goes out. All was right with the world :)Then 2009 and I replaced a can that had a bad spout. What the heck gas cans were expensive! why? New "spill proof" design. OK 1st can I got leaked around the spout spilling gas in my car. I tried and tried and tried I could never get that can NOT to leak. I spilled so much gas on the ground it was not funny. I started trying to pour gas from that can into my old can that while not having a cap or rubber gasket to seal on the car still did not leak! Of course this spilled gas as pouring with no spout was tricky. That new can was put in the shed. I got another "spill proof" can. This one didn't leak around the seal. Great finally I can pour gas and not spill. Nope you can not see into the small tanks so gas overflowed the tank nearly every time! Then came the I lift the "spill proof" can out to stop filling my snow blower and it does not close thus spilling gas all over my engine! Also using these "spill proof" cans takes so long to fill you fall asleep. Then add the chugging of gas coming out and again small tanks gas spills, filling your car with one spills...I thought this was just me. But talking to my dad and the hardware store people, I found out these issues were common and not just me. So I'm a big tree hugger and think these new "SPILL ALL OVER" cans suck and someone should be fired for this stupid rule. This saved me from using milk jugs and watering cans for gas! Then I found these replacement spouts and thought I would give them a try. So glad I did, I replaced my chainsaw mixed gas can that didn't have a rubber gasket and had a plastic bag covering the top. Snug fit and no leaks! My old can was saved. I don't know if I should say this, but for kicks I replaced it on my 5 gallon "spill proof" can that leaked around the threads (I have 3 of the new cans that do this and one that leaks when the shut off stays open). No leaking gas!!! I then poured from my now reclaimed 5 gallon "spill proof" can into my favorite still good old can. Oh baby the gas flowed smoothly and no spill, no leak, and no wasted gas! So long story but I love these and no leaks or spills...back to the old days. Now that I have these I will try them on all my new and old cans to see if I can replace all of them and stop wasting gas.I will say that they will not fit the No-Spill brand gas cans as the opening on the can is much bigger.Recap: Love these so much and worked on some new and old cans. No spills and for around $5 per can you save having to buy new cans at $30-$119! plus over the life I will save that in gas too. I will take one to my dad and try it on the gas cans he has.

Careful if you have an old Wedco Jerry can
Not the best for the Wedco plastic Jerry cans of yesteryear. The spout was the only piece I could use from the kit because the two caps were too small. Had to marry the spout up with my original Wedco cap and a spout stopper cap from a newer style Wedco replacement kit because of the inside diameter of this spout.

Didn’t fit.
Not universal fit.

Bad Gasket
The gasket shrinks...had to use the one that came with the gas can originally. for the price some spares should be included
