Impressed with the Quality of the Compressor and Accessories
*** 6 years of use update: Still working great and have not had any issues with the compressor, bag or any of its included parts. Have been using it quite a bit and pack it in the truck for every road trip or trail adventure. Added a picture of the pumps specs*** Bought this for use with my 4WD truck and jeep for airing up my tires. Did a ton of research and decided on the Viair 450P. After getting it and some use I am actually really impressed with the quality of everything that comes with the compressor. The air gun and pressure gauge are well made and seem heavy duty. The pressure gauge reading is about 4-5lbs higher than what it actually is - so would be good to have a 2nd gauge on hand to compare PSI. The hose and clamp on air chuck are both nice - hose is made of nice rubber and the air chuck is heavy cast metal vs stamped steel. The long curly air hose is NOT the typical cheap plastic hose (usually yellow and cracks or shatters after any small amount of time in the sun). It is rubber coated with a woven/braided line. Very flexible and also fits nice into the front bag pocket. The bag seems nice and has plenty of room for everything. Material is a little thinner than I would prefer but zippers are large and smooth and bag has plenty of room for everything. The compressor itself is solid and well put together. Nice handle and base. Fairly quiet in my opinion when running. It pumps up one of my trucks 35x12.5x18 inch 12ply/F-Load tires from 20psi to 45psi in 4 minutes. The auto shut-off feature is great when you are switching to another tire or the other side of the vehicle, as the compressor quits pumping, using power and generating heat. The 450P kit comes with extra air intake filters and some different ends for the air gun (like a needle for pumping up a basketball). The model 450 compressor is rated at a 100% duty cycle, meaning it is built to be continuously run for up to an hour. Other Viair models that have a higher air/CFM output rating, like the 400 & 440, are rated at a 33% duty cycle, meaning they can run for about 20 minutes before needing to be shut off to cool down - see Viair's website for the specs. So depending on your intended use, the 400 or 440 may be a better choice due to the faster fill rates. For me, the benefit of the 100% duty cycle is I can fill my tires (that require a higher PSI) PLUS fill my trail buddy's tires as well, and NOT exceed the rated run time. Overall very happy with this product.

Now I am airing down to 10 psi and this thing is amazing. It affords up all 4 35 inch tires ...
I do allot of wheeling in my 2016 wrangler jk rubicon. I recently went to a 35 inch tire on beadlock wheels. Before I was running 32 inch tires on the stock wheels and airing down to between 18 and 20 psi. Well just the stock tires burnt my cheap little compressor up. Now I am airing down to 10 psi and this thing is amazing. It affords up all 4 35 inch tires up with no problem and I am not having to travel with low air pressie to a gas station. It's a great air pump and it airs up my tires in a fairly decent amount of time I think it takes about 4 minutes maybe less per tire. And I am not ruining them on pavement looking for a gas station to pump them back up. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a good portable air compressor that wheels allot. Oh and it's very quiet too, which was shocking to me, as I was expecting it to be loud like my other small El cheapo compressor was. Do keep in mind though when using this one or any one like it always grab it by the handle. My nephew can attest that the metal parts get very hot, as all compressors will. Definitely a good buy and I will definitely buy again once this one gives out if I haven't gone to an onboard air system. Quick update. Can't say enough about this little air compressor. It does great on my 35×12.5r17. Now for a real test. I got home with my 07 379exh peterbilt, and had a flat tire. This is a 295/75r22.5 that takes 110 psi. And in about 20 minutes it went from 0 psi to 85 psi. Is it the fastest way to air one up? Nope, but when it is all you habe at home it is great that it can do the job.

Powerful, relatively quiet, and a pleasure to use
When you buy something that really works well, it's always a rush of pleasure. This device is great. When weather turned cold, we had two cars with low tires, and the hose on my previous compressor fell apart due to age and cold. I thought about just replacing the hose, but I didn't really like the older compressor very much anyway. After considerable investigation, I bought this device, worrying a little about the size and weight and the need to connect it directly to the battery. However, my reservations are gone now. Once everything was hooked up carefully (since it was my first time to use an inflator trigger device, I was taking my time), it was a very fast. I increased the air pressure by two to four pounds on 8 tires so fast that I was a little disappointed the process was over. On the other hand, I have a communal parking situation and the neighbors don't like do-it-yourself vehicle repairs in the garage, so I was able to do the whole thing before anyone could drive buy and get annoyed. Observations: The 450P is a well-made attractive device in its chrome finish. The carrying bag is useful, but nothing special. It is surprisingly quiet. I have owned six small tire inflator compressors and the noise level on this one was refreshingly quiet, with much less "rattle." This is also a plus for the neighbors. The device itself is heavy--about 10 pounds. I keep it in its satchel in a plastic tub with jumper cables, gloves, first aid kit, extra fuses and miscellaneous small tools. It's not trivial to lift the device with one outstretched arm, in its carrying satchel with hose and inflator device, unless I bring the tub close. My spouse would not be able to use it easily. The automatic cutoff was a little slower than I expected, but it definitely worked, and is a very nice feature. This is also good from a neighborly point of view. The gauge goes to 160 pounds and this is not appropriate for normal passenger car tires, because it makes the divisions too small to accurately read pressures in the 30 to 40 pound range. 0-60 or 0-100 options would be a welcome upgrade on the built-in gauge. It is important to release the trigger before reading the pressure. I bought an auxiliary tire gauge, which I would have preferred not to need. I would have gladly paid extra for an optional well-calibrated gauge in the preferred range. The quick connect is heavy duty and has a strong spring that might be a problem if you have arthritis. If the quick connect is not fully engaged, the pressure gauge goes up very high when the clamping lever is engaged--a quick sign that it's not completely on the valve stem. The reinforced hose is a nice touch. The hose is long enough reach the rear tires of a Chevrolet Tahoe easily, but not quite all the way around to the farthest tire on my spouse's much smaller car. While I don't really like having to raise the hood on my car to connect the compressor to the battery terminals, the alternative is much worse. After years of using them, I have come to the conclusion that a cigarette lighter power source is really inferior. The connections turn out to be unreliable, cutting off when I am attempting to air the tire, requiring multiple trips back to the connector. Even with acceptable amperage rating for my fuses, other compressors would occasionally blow a fuse on their second startup. This always made me wonder if the connector had come loose again or if the fuse was blown or if the compressor had overheated or died.

So far this and my other Viair 88 have been excellent products. This one has the very handy feature of shutting off when you aren't actively pumping air. I can't overemphasize how nice that is. The bag is a little thin but it is holding up fine. I'd prefer a little heavier material. There is enough room in the bag to add a patch kit and other small items. Being 100% duty cycle means it will just keep going and going. I chose that over a faster fill but 33% duty cycle because I didn't want to be worrying about or managing cool off periods. A false economy to a faster fill. The faster models also take more amperage, but that isn't a big deal. The hose is really nice that it stretches to all 4 corners of a full-size truck. Overall, very happy with this. I air down from about 38 to 25 psi for mixed offroading and lower for specific needs. This airs up after with no problems at all.

This is not the fastest out there, but it works very well. 100 percent duty cycle. Very quiet and so little vibration, so much so I was pleasantly surprised. All my other 12v compressors have been noisy, and shake like crazy. The carry bag is nice, the hose and all the accessories are well thought out. One of the situations where you get what you pay for, and I have grown tired of paying for junk. This should last a long time. Happy customer for sure.

Does a good job. It is WAY quieter than I thought it would be. I think it is quieter than my diesel truck. Only has 1 hose, but reaches everything I need.
