This product is excellent, but its hard to find at regular stores. Usually you'll only see the Upholstery product at hardware and department stores (make sure you get the correct version of the product for your needs!)We have very light carpet, kids, cats that throw up, and a dog who gets really dirty feet, so I use it every time I clean our carpets. I have high traffic areas that kept getting stains every few weeks or months (depending on the season) with ScotchGard Carpet Protector they have now gone over a year without getting any stains. You have to make sure you apply it heavily and then manually work it into the fibers of the carpet and let it fully dry for the best results. Don't think you can just lightly spray it and have the same durability. The time is worth the effort because you won't have to clean stains again for a long time.A previous post mentioned that the current seller costs too much for shipping, but the alternative sellers all had higher shipping costs when I looked. I bought in bulk to reduce the overall percentage of the shipping costs, plus if you have a lot of carpet area, you need a lot of ScotchGard. The seller shipped the product quickly and it was well packaged to prevent accidental discharge.Pros:- Awesome carpet protectionCons:- Hard to find at local stores- You need a lot of it. (Saturate the carpet area and give it time to fully dry before you allow anyone to walk on it (I use painters floor covers to give it a day of drying time (its worth the hassle because it protects your carpet for so much longer than the lightly coated spray jobs done by some professional cleaning companies. I had to redo the cleaning and protection done by the last company we used because stains came back after they did their work).

We bought two cans of this stuff to protect our new hallway runner and it hasn't disappointed. We recommend this for anyone who has pets and is looking to protect their rug/carpet.

I bought this for my new (expensive) area rug. It was very easy to use. Unfortunately, my dog got sick the next week and left a few surprises🫣 😣. Most of it came up (after much scrubbing), but the largest spot didn’t come out. I’ll have to hire professionals to clean it. 😭 Overall, I’m glad I had scotch guarded it—I think it helped a lot. Just wish it would have worked completely.

Exactly what I ordered!

I bought this product to use in the area of carpet just where my front door opens. A lot of mud and dirt tracks in there but the inward swinging door leaves no room for a rug or mat/ It was easy to apply and does seem to have made the carpet more resistant to soiling and easier to clean. However one can was only just enough to treat about 3-4 square feet of space with two applications.

I just sprayed my rug so as far as protection goes I’m not sure yet, but it doesn’t seem to spray correctly. I’ve never used this product, so I could be wrong, but when spraying the product I just got a stream. I couldn’t tell where I was at on the rug at all. The only way I got foam was if I held it in one spot. I ended up putting on some gloves and wiping the carpet to hopefully get it spread out and even. Hopefully it will work as intended. I also purchased the fabric shield and it sprayed how I expected, I’m wondering if they’re supposed to spray the same way and I just got a bad can. We’ll see

I repurchased new synthetic rugs for my entryways as my older ones (only 4 months old and purchased in the summer months) started to look dirty. To clean them would cost more than just repurchasing new rugs so that’s what we did along with this Scotchgard rug protectant. I purchased these products during the fall (which my husband wasn’t happy with as he said these new rugs would look awful in a few days) and my white rugs still look white 4-5 months later. This was a great investment!

Hold about 16 inches away from clean rug and spray. Dries within 2-3 hours. Offers great protection. I use once a year for stain proof protection. Works excellent
