Does the job, IPlayer no longer on this service.
Does the job as freeview aerial box. Connected to internet, for iplayer, was, for me, just problematic. I found that if a scheduled recording started whilst watching Iplayer then the box would just shut down. Starts after about a minute but the recording will come up as failed. Any break in internet supply and the same will happen. No tv package deal with internet supplier so just iplayer available on net, My advice, avoid the iplayer on it, not much to, see there anyway. Overal a good unit, easy to set and use.

These are getting rare.
Could not be without it. Prefer this to a smart TV. Get a fire stick and you are made up.

Not as easy to use as earlier models for the elderly
We purchased 2 of these to replace earlier Humax recorders which had been used by two sets of 80+ and 90+ year old mothers. Unfortunately both the older Humax recorders had worn out after about 10 years of use.The 80 year old is managing (just) but the 90year old with failing eye sight has had to return hers after being unable to read the buttons on the remote and the menus on screen. The main disadvantage for them being the completely different menu layout and buttons to use. And gone are the blue menus with everything looking a bit stark , white on black.Being Humax users of old, we are used to certain functions locking up and having to reset the box at the power to get things working and these newer models are no better. The Humax app that loads things like BBC Iplayer simply refused to work until the device had been reset, 24hrs after installation and after connecting to the Internet the Humax on screen app gave the revolving circular icon and then nothing until a hard reboot fixed it.Be warned that this version supports wifi only with an extra dongle not provided. We plugged one into a TP Link (ethernet over power socket) and it connected to the internet without issue.I doubt that anyone provides a simple interface for the elderly or visually impaired so I cant lay the fault purely at Humax and I guess menu and function evolution is inevitable.

Unreliable garbage
In the first day, it has crashed three times, failed to initialise HDMI audio twice, failed to recognise that it has a hard drive three times and failed one of its two scheduled recordings. When it works, it's nice to use, but it takes a lot of attempts to get it to work even once. Also, the only catchup channel available seems to be BBC iPlayer, seemingly no 4OD, My5, ITV hub etc.

Easy to operate
I always read reviews and sometimes put off by a few comments, but took a chance, as my sister has had one for ages. I have been using it now for a few weeks and have had no problems at all. Some of the functions would benefit appearing in the user guide, or entered as 'idiots guide' !!, but had my sister to show me round the control. I can't hire her out, so just press the buttons. Nice picture, arrived on time, well packaged. Regards Daphne D

Does the basics
It's an ok product. My main gripe is that when it goes into standby there's a devil of a job to get it to "wake up". I've taken to not switching it off. But it records fine. I've not been able to try the internet interface because there's an issue. Or copying a file onto a usb stick - not got round to that yet. Now onto my replacement recorder. Going well so far and none of the worrying earlier issues" one ;-)3 months later: wouldn't recommend this product. It has a worrying habit of freezing. This, as you can imagine, it's annoying if you expect it to have recorded a prog for you. Won't buy another.

it works.
I like it because you can record what you want to watch without the adverts which are a pain in the neck. Also I want to change my opinion of the seller. They have been in touch with me and the issue I had with the machine has been settled, thank you Humax.

You can record two programs at once
It’s a great little box you can record two programmes at once. It does what it says on the tin. I did find it a bit complicated to set up but I think that was me as I’m a real technophobe. Good quality picture and easy to understand when it’s set up. Good value for money.
