Failed by glass cracking!
Initially was enjoying the coffee being poured out of this glass beaker. However, after this mornings pour I noticed coffee leaking from the stainless steel holder which houses the beaker. And then upon preparing to clean i noticed the large 'U' shaped crack in the beaker. This has never been dropped always carefully hand washed. Can only presume the glass is cheap and failed over time. Never pour boiling water into it as this would burn the grounds always let it cool before using warm water to wash. Disappointed in the product complete fail. Also missed the return window of September 28th. Used this maybe for one month at one to two times per day. Would like my money back or replacement. Not holding my breath for either.

Great Little Replace Carafe
Purchase this to replace a Bodum "Eileen" 8-cup (34oz) carafe. The diameter of carafe is perfect - slides in without issues and stays good put once in (the "Eileen" features a full metal cage from bottom to top). I was glad that the new mesh screens were included as it perfectly fit and (in my opinion) strains the grinds a little better than the Bodum included screens that came with the french press. However, as many commenters have noted - this carafe is a little less forgiving on pouring as it will dribble and leak as you are filling a cup. I believe that this has to do with the spout design (it seems to be more narrow and shallow in depth than the original) and while the carafe fits snugly, it seems that the lid of the press sits a little further down than on the original carafe, which can interfere with the stream of liquid as it passes through the pour spout. You *CAN* pour without spilling, but you want to make sure that the spout is directly across from the handle, and pour more slowly as this will mitigate the risk of a mess (took me a lot of paper towels to figure this one out!).Overall a good product and I am satisfed; the difference in cost between this and the Bodum is well worth the hassle of learning to pour again... :-)

Read the reviews, then buy this!
I did my usual homework before selecting this product. Some negative comments about pouring may relate to a prior design. This pours well as long as you're not trying to pour too quickly. I had no problems. The carafe fit my base perfectly (snug) and the extra screens are an added benefit. The vendor contributes to a good cause, so I am delighted to give this FIVE STARS!

Glass exploded, very dangerous!
This glass was noticeably thinner than the original beaker it replaced. It is too thin to withstand the normal pressures that are involved in depressing the plunger in a standard french press. I had only used it a few times before the bottom of the glass literally blew out while I was slowly pressing the plunger, sending scalding-hot coffee, glass, and grounds flying in all directions. Very dangerous! I have been making my coffee this way every morning for decades, I know how some people can unwittingly create a high-pressure situation with finely-ground coffee. That is NOT what happened here. This was basic, normal use with appropriately ground coffee. Now I know to return without using if I ever encounter this type of glass again.

Nice and Thick Replacement for BODUM French Press
Bought this to replace the glass vessel of my BODUM French Press, which got broken. It fits perfectly and is a sturdier, thicker glass than the original, which I like. It fits perfectly in the BODUM frame, and the BODUM press part also fits perfectly into the glass. I recommend!

Developed a crack after several weeks
My prior, identical-looking carafe by a different company gave me several years of faithful daily service until I broke it one day by accidentally slamming a pan into it. I ordered the one listed here as a replacement several weeks ago and was initially pleased, because it was the right size and it was certainly inexpensive. Everything seemed great for a while, but now it has developed some kind of internal fracture as seen in my photo. It’s not leaking as of yet, but I can just barely feel the crack from the inside, so I’m afraid it may start harboring bacteria. I wash it by hand and the crack seems to have originated on the inside, so my guess is it’s from temperature shock, which I would think this product would be designed to withstand. I don’t see a way to directly contact the seller so I’m hoping they will contact me to resolve...

Unless you like to be frustrated, I recommend you buy something else
When I received the item, I thought "Wow, it's a bit thicker than the original. It probably will be more durable." The problem is that this additional glass thickness means when you try to use it, it might break. Mine broke the first time I tried to press coffee. Snapped nearly immediately when plunger was added. The thing "fits", I guess, but didn't work. I'm a bit surprised so many people have good success with this product, because it seems to me, it's far from UNIVERSAL in terms of fit. It looks right. It'll fit in the original holder, but failed in its main function upon first use. The extra glass thickness is not an advantage.

Doesn't quite fit bodum 1 liter because of the thickness of glass (too thick)
This broke on the second use when I tried to use it in a Bodum french press. It's not quite standard size, so I found that when I pressed down (essential to the concept!!) the insert broke. Better off buying a more expensive one (Bodum) that you know will fit. This might work for some other french press pots, but it certainly didn't work for me.
