Great Stability, Questionable Quality over Time
These saved me last winter when New England was inundated with snow and cities could not keep up with maintenance and removal. Many landlords were not able to remove dangerous levels of ice from sidewalks. Enter Yaktrax, recommended by a friend of mine who noticed I was trying to get by in my rain boots (the only thing tall enough to get through the feet of snow!). These radically changed my stability and footing in ice and snow. They do take some getting used to when walking on any surface which has been cleared. For the sake of longevity, I would recommend taking them off and storing them in a plastic bag when inside or when out of snow and icy conditions. A few of the metal spirals did get caught and bent when walking on the carpeting in my office building (just to get to my desk to change them). A few of the spirals also have broken or corroded over time and are now sticking out as sharp bits (this is over one season). I'm not sure this is worth the price if I have to buy a new pair every winter, but they were so effective in harsh conditions that I would still recommend them.

4-wheel-drive for your feet
These are wonderful. My driveway is flat, in the shade, and in snow country -- it is solid ice for months of the year. These are lifesavers. The only complaint I have with THESE particular YakTrax is that I lost one within days of receiving them. It apparently slipped off my boot. I was hooked on them after using them just a couple days, so went to a local store and bought another pair. The pair from the store is half again as wide coming up over the sole of the boot and is way less likely to come off. They also have the YakTrax name on the section at the toe of the boot instead of the back. It's a much different design (the bottom is the same) and a better fit than the ones from Amazon.I ordered the bright green from Amazon and the lost one showed up in the middle of my yard a few days after I bought a replacement pair. Both sets are in use!

I live in a ski town and it's snowy 6 months out of the year. Last year I fell REALLY HARD a couple times on the ice wearing what I thought was proper footwear. This year I wasn't taking any chances. A friend of mine years ago had sworn by these, so I gave them a try (they were a SUPER good price and I loved the glow in the dark). They are AWESOME! I can walk with a normal gait with these and feel confident on the ice now.WARNING!!!!!!!!!!! Although these are effective in the snow and ice, they are EXTREMELY dangerous to wear indoors. I was wearing these and was running into work and just about ate it on the tile as I jogged inside. The Yaktrax are very easy to put on and take off, so I am careful to take them off before going indoors now.

Wish they would have given more info before I made purchase. I was under the assumption these could be worn indoors without damaging floors. Not so. Maybe it's only certain styles. Also should have stated can not wear on concrete or gravel roads. I live in North country so when it snows I encounter all types of surfaces to walk on in inclement weather. They do have good traction though. Haven't slipped or fallen to date. Another drawback--I was walking & one fell off. Didn't realize it for 1/4 mile. Shouldn't have happened as I made sure they were securely fastened to the shoe & I did have the proper size.

Amazing
These are one of the most amazing products I have ever purchased! With all of the snow and ice we've been getting this winter, I was having a hard time finding clear road to run on and absolutely hate the treadmill. These slip right on to your shoes and once you start running with them, you barely notice anything at all. You can run on ice without changing your stride or needing to slow down at all. I've been able to complete my normal runs over icy pavement in the same time as I would if there were no ice when I wear these. They're pretty cheap, but feel like they are of a very good quality and seem like they will last multiple seasons. Overall, I would definitely recommend these to any avid runner or walker who doesn't want to let Mother Nature mess up your training schedule!

I love these!
It's been a pretty icy winter here in South Dakota, and I've been wanting a pair of these for two years, but can never find them here in Rapid City. Finally browsed around online and found these. I saw some that were around $60, and couldn't justify spending that much, but these got great reviews, so I thought I'd try them out. I figured that $15 or so bucks is a lot cheaper than a broken ankle, xrays, and my co-payment, even if they only last for one season. Now, everywhere I go, people are asking me where I got them and want a pair for themselves. I should get paid commission or something!I wear a size 8, and the smalls are perfect for me.

Good on ice, less so in snow
I got these for safe running through the New England winter. First time I took them out I definitely felt a lot more secure, and I feel much safer when its icy. Wearing them in the snow has been more mixed. On my big snow boots these tend to pop off - maybe my fault for trying to get them on such big shoes. Just have to do a check periodically in the snow to make sure they are still there - otherwise a great product.
