Can you live stream with this camera ?

Yes. This camera has HDMI preview. All you need is a capture card.

You don't need RAW. Or, if you do need RAW you need a larger sensor than 1/2.3

Is the insane optical zoom a bit of a gimmick?

Sort of. The claimed zoom of 85x is from wide angle 18mm to full zoom, not zoom over visual which is what binoculars and telescopes use. All digital cameras do this little exaggeration. That said, the magnification over visual is about 40x which is about all you can effectively use. The 16 mp sensor allows you to increase any part of the photo by about 4x, so you get a different magnification level depending on how you look at it. On the subject of remote shutter control, if you have an IPhone, there is a remote Nikon app Wireless Mobile Utility that lets you see the camera image and remotely trigger the shutter.

When will the p900 be available on Amazon?

Amazon just dropped it $110 for Black Friday. couldn't help myself.. I need it like I need a hole in the head but I just bought it anyway for $489!! of course I had to pay sales tax ;(
