Great dedicated running shoes.
The miles keep ticking by and these shoes are keeping up! I'm not easy on my shoes, considering I run around 22 miles a week on average. These shoes are easily going to last me a year with how well they're holding up. Definitely a minimalist sole, considering how light they feel when running on gravel and exposed roots, but still extremely comfortable. If I ran over extremely sharp rocks, I'd probably wear something with a thicker sole. The soles kind of remind me of a squid's tentacles, very different feeling at first that took a while to get use to. Extremely slippery on wet surfaces! I've slipped countless times while walking from asphalt to indoor tiles, not because I am clumsy but because the shoe's "Tentacle soles" have little contact with a smooth surface. Overall a quality product by Merrell, as with everything I've purchased from them. If you plan on using these for outdoor trail running or jogging on paved surfaces, you need not look further. If you're looking for shoes that can be worn around as casual shoes, please be careful on slippery surfaces.

Great quality, great fit!
Great shoes - VERY comfortable for trail running/light hiking and even every day wear. Small but helpful cushion surrounding the heel area is a nice touch that pads your foot without being heavy. The material they are primarily made of is excellent - lightweight, fast drying, and very easy to clean. Knobby treads on the bottom have a good grip. Also, space between the treads makes it much easier to clean heavy mud etc out of there than most other shoes of this type. I have owned many pairs of Merrells over the years and I keep buying them because they never disappoint - these are certainly no different. Would recommend to anyone looking for a sturdy trail running shoe that is lightweight.

Not too shabby
The shoes provide good support when I run and the material on top is very breathable. Since theses shoes are made to fit around your feet as a minimus type of shoe I have to say that the arch for the front of the foot cuts in too quickly and part of my lower toes feel the front of the shoe. It's not too bad as I have adjusted to it but it is still an annoyance to feel when I first put on the shoes. The shoes do feel a little tight around the top and so I have to adjust the shoelaces so that they don't suffocate my feet. All in all it's a decent shoe with great support.

Perfect fit + lovely price= happy customer
Throughout my 35 years on this earth I have worn just about every athletic/sports shoe made. Having played soccer, baseball, bowling, track, cross country, indoor soccer, basketball, football, tennis, racquet ball, water skiing, snow boarding, hiking, I have experienced a wide range of shoes and levels of comfort, but this particular Merrill shoe is, by far, the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn! Previously to owning these shoes, Nike had been the shoe I had consistently found to fit my narrow foot while providing the most comfort on a very active level. I average 50 miles cycling and 5 miles running at least every week, so comfort and something lite weight are my main focus. Once I put these shoes on, I thought they were specifically designed for my foot. I like the lower heel, wider width, and most importantly the price. I would definitely purchase these again. I'm not a member of "Prime" so these shoes arrived in less than a week. I wear a 12 in Nike and these fit right on. Hopefully they last longer than my typical 3 months wearing Nike's. Service, price, and comfort made these my top pick. Thank u!

Sole cushion is too thick/firm
I became a fan of Merrell's minimalist shoe series after coming across a pair of bare access 4's. I'm not a barefoot enthusiast, but the low-to-no rise on these solved some foot problems I was having, and the wider toe box fits my foot style perfectly. I have purchased every single shoe in Merrell's "all out" line-up, and while these aren't the worst, they're far from my favorite.First off, the thickness of the sole cushion is kind of crazy. I suppose it's not so much that it's thicker than any other standard athletic shoe, but that it's firm. Very firm. I find it awkward to feel such firmness and yet be an inch off the ground. Another reviewer said he could feel the nubs at the bottom, and I think that's true. You'll never get poked by a rock in these, but there's an odd feel to them, like laying on a very thick memory foam mattress that's extra, extra firm.Second, these use the Merrell Select Grip sole. It's not a terrible sole, but I'm disappointed every time Merrell cheaps out and decides to put that in instead of the Vibram soles they use for many other of their shoes. The select grip soles are a little bit more slippery in wet conditions, and they don't last nearly as long as Vibram soles. The shoe appears well constructed, and I expect the upper will far outlast the Merrell in-house sole.

Good shoes all around.
These shoes are great for the gym. The tread is smooth on the bottom, but, has cleat pattern that would do great in loose dirt and gravel. It also has a rear tread like a hiking boot for downhill runs. The shoes are very light and thin in every way. The box indicates that they are kind of a barefoot kind of design. The sole takes up impacts in the rear and is very thin in the front under the ball of the foot. They are working out great as a gym shoe. There is not too much squish in the sole. They work great on the weight machines. Some folks might find them a bit unstable for daily wear as they flex a great deal and that can leave feet tired if worn for too long.
