This book, has some good information on different wood to use, an also instructions and pictures on making wooden spoons and bowls.

I haven't carved any of the spoon blanks I bought at the same time as this book yet but the quality appears to be top rate just going on the texture and uniformity of the wood. The book has beautiful work in it with detailed instructions. I can't wait to carve some spoons for gifts and for my personal use based on the patterns and projects outlined here. The best spoon carving book I've found so far, it describes using green wood which I don't have. But the patterns alone are worth the cost of the book.

As a novice at woodcarving, I've already bought several books and magazines with project stencils - but no match, I'm not worried about carving small fish or dog figures. My goal is to begin practicing carving wooden spoons and bowls, then forks and cups, and this book is the perfect source for intro informationa and templates. This book is exactly a match for what I'm wanting to work on.(Yes, there are some spoon types in this book that don't appeal to me, but I am MOST interested in the two spoon types that are exactly what I had in mind! Happy days !!)

I will buy some of the tools that they advise you to buy for to make all the projects in the book I will only be making a lovespoon to begin with and then I’ll take it from there
