Rules for Writers, 7th Edition

I started a new english class at school and I havent been in an english class in many years, so I thought this book was going to be boring and useless. However, going through this book in class has helped me sooooo much! Because of this book i've been receiving awesome grades on all my essays and research papers. It helps you with different style formats for writing different papers. I was thinking about re-selling it back on amazon but I am keeping this book. This book will help me through out my life!! I just have one complaint, the coil binding rips the papers easily! im very careful with mine and have seen some tears in the pages, but its something that I can live with.

This book has helped me while in college and still continues to be a big part of my life

I took my Eng-200 during the covid lockdown(I wouldn't Recommend taking this class online). Needless to say, without having the professor there to answer my many questions, this book was a lifesaver. Note: I'm 60 yr. old going back to school. This book helped me tremendously and I still find myself reaching for it when I have a question dealing with writing.

I was expecting a paper back with a normal spine, but this is actually a spiral bound book. I consider the spiral bound much easier to use because it takes up less desk space. :) The layout Diana Hacker chose to use is useful, but I've found some issues in finding specific material for citing sources using the index to navigate the book. Once I did find the correct information, it was of understandable quality. Negatives: Challenging (But not impossible) to find specific information within a section. Positives: Spiral Bound Good quality of information

I like this book because it is very detailed on writing style and what is acceptable. The book breaks down all aspects of writing it gives you example, exercises to do, and indexes within the book so that you will not have to scroll back to the front to find exactly what you are looking for in the section you are reading. I rented this book but I realize I should by this for help with my future classes.

The only complaint I have about this book is that the font is impossible to read. Even with my reading glasses on, the entire book is just blurs. But the size of this book is perfect for college because it is small and easy to carry around. Over all it is a great buy, just don't strain your eyes reading it.

I was required to have this book for both Writing in the Liberal Arts classes when I first started college. I was eager to sell it after the courses was over. Big mistake. I have since then purchased another copy, and plan on keeping it forever. This book serves as a refresher course for students who have taken any English class, and will help them to write better. Used and older books of this copy are just fine if you are skeptical about paying $40.00 for a brand new copy. Just be aware that there are important revisions, and you should find out what they are.

This book is full of so much useful information you may need when going to school (I use it in my college English classes). Everything from proper MLA citations, to detailed examples and explanations of parts of speech, etc. Easy to maneuver through the book and find what you are looking for. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND (make sure it is the current version though as MLA changes over years) If anything changes, I will update this review.

Our professor recommended us to use in the academic writing course.

I bought this book for a class I took in college, and still use it as a reference whenever I want to check grammar, etc. It's a very easy book to follow, and I really like the small size and ring binding because I can fold the book into half and it doesn't take up much space. Great for anyone learning English, and as a reference to anyone using the English language.

Great book, doesn't give all the answers for all the exercises though.

A must have for college students and writers in general. Glad I bought it.
