 how deep is the top bar? You can run your figure across the the engraved and feel that it is raised up

**Q: Are the markings along the ruler printed or engraved?**
A: They are printed/painted on, the people who are saying "engraved" are probably feeling the thickness of the paint. The paint job is quite poor on mine, I see the same defects on the seller's photos, just fewer of them.
