Pilot Kneeboard for Smartphones, Mini Tablets, iPhone, iPad Mini, Android

I ordered this product to hold my iPhone while flying a Diamond without ADS-B. The curved canopy of the DA-40 is hard to mount my 11" iPad suction cup to and not have it contact the stick. This little device comes in super handy for keeping an eye on my location without impeding my view or flight controls. I've used it six times now and find it to hold my phone exactly where I want it without it creeping to one side or the other. It seems well made and I'm pleased I bought it.

Does ok for what it is. Plastic is cheaper quality. Went a different route for mounting but would work but not ideal for my application.

First, the product is designed for the device without a case, means pulling your phone case off and mounting the device to the bracket for each use. Second, the bracket does not anchor to the user's leg. The bracket plus device pop out because the design does not include a way to lock the pieces together. I decided to glue the pieces together. Logically it should work. That solves falling apart problem, no solution yet for the bracket clamps being too small to hold a phone or tablet with a case still on.

I was using the latest iPad Mini 6th gen and even though it is relatively heavy, it's the tablet of choice for pilots using Foreflight and such. This product is just way too unstable as the heavy tablet flops forward and just won't stay up at all. And that's what most pilots need. The laydown books for iPad make the pilot move his head down and forward too often and that's just unsafe. If they would only have a vertical piece of plastic that balances the weight up and down the leg this would be a 100% winner. But right now ... pretty unusable if you have any decent tablet.SorryUPDATE ---The company has gotten back to me on my negative review and offered a full refund as well as offered a few ideas on how the product will work for me. I mistakenly said I have the 9th gen iPad Mini but it's actually the 6th. That little guy is really heavy which still causes issues with this product. And even though I am able to use the holder while the Mini I laid flat on my knee it wasn't why I ordered the product. I am raising my 1 star to a 3 simply because of how the company handled my review. A respectable company with a "meh" product is still worth the time and keeping track of and I'm betting we see some of the changes everyone is requesting in the next release.Thanks, guys!

This is a sturdy, easy-to-use knee holder for small devices. Quickly adjustable, good strap and quality components…highly recommended!

It's good enough if you want to hold your iPad on a kneeboard, but I just can't recommend this approach for serious student / GA pilots. If you are serious about flying, get the right gear. I ditched this kneeboard and spent the money on a proper mount from mygoflight (best mounts on the market, and pricy).
