very solid
I was surprised how solid this ends up for something that folds up around a cord running through the center. The way the handle works screws everything into place, and takes up all of the slack in the cord (which is more like a cable). It goes in its own little pouch, which is great to tuck into a pocket of a range bag. More than once I've run into an issue where I need to poke out an empty cartridge case, and not brought my cleaning rod with me. I wouldn't use it extensively as a rod, as it has to be kind of skinny to work with all calibers - but for its intended use it will be great.

Light and compact
I bought this after I had a problem in the field where a wad from a 12ga shell was stuck halfway up my barrel. I managed to dislodge it eventually after a lot of effort with a stick. I found this and it is exactly what I will keep in my pack at all times. Not the strongest looking device but it will serve it’s purpose in an emergency situation

Field use item. Not for cats!
First off, I purchased this as a way to assist in removing a stuck casing at the range. It does come with a plastic .22 patch holder and an assortment of aluminum patch jags and they are okay. I can see using this to run dry patches to wipe down a chamber/bore prior to shooting but not a full brushing. It would probably hold up but I have much sturdier rods at home. But the big complaint is that it takes a while to get this thing opened and deployed. True it does the first time. Like any new piece of kit that you intend to take out into the field, its important you get to know it and operate it a "few" times until you know how to operate it. It takes me about 20 seconds now (actually shorter but I'll be generous) to deploy it and about the same to take it apart and put it away. Take it out, hold handle in left hand, let sections drop. Slowly pull up on knurled handle and straighten out sections. "Lefty-Tighty" (DONT GORILLA GRIP IT) Done! Take it apart: Handle in left hand rod going down. "Righty-Loosey" knurled handle drops. start folding sections from the handle and the cable automatically spaces itself correctly. DONE.I'd give it 5 but it could stand a little improvement like done in brass or possibly a little deeper sections.OH and KEEP IT AWAY FROM YOUR CAT(S) As soon as I put it together they thought I was a "lion tamer" and they started to swat at the tip with gusto! One of them got a good grip on it and they caused it to flex but didn't bend or break it.

Perfect addition to range bag
This compact tool stores easy, and can be deployed quickly to remove barrel obstructions or an FTE casing.

Great idea, poor execution. Pricey.
I was a pretty excited about this product. It is quite compact and I loved the idea of how fast it would be to deploy. It is a 6 section aluminum rod with a steel cable in the center. The handle extends and tightens, taking up the slack in the cable. It provides an expedient way to clear your barrel and clean your rifle. However there are a few issues:(1).22 cal slotted patch tip molded threads are almost non-existent so it will fail - definitely replace this before going out in the field.(2) Rapid-Rod end threads were poorly formed and I could not thread any of the included tips or any other standard tips that I had into it when I received it. I had to run an 8-32 tap through the threads to first clean them up, then they worked fine but this lack of quality control is very disappointing (This item is made in China). (3)The pouch is a bit small to comfortably fit the Rapid-Rod and accessories. There is only one pocket to hold the rod. The rear of the pouch has a belt loop but it would only accommodate a 1-1/2" wide belt, nothing more. It has a long section of webbing that could have been sewn to be MOLLE compatible just by changing the stitching pattern. (4) Ultimately I feel that it is a bit pricey for what it is, considering that I had to fix it, I am probably only going to use the rod with a different case, and that I am going to have to add my own accessories. The packaging is different than pictured but that doesn't really matter. It is definitely field gear only as regular sectional rod kits can be had for half as much as this unit. I only bought it because I needed something that would pack compactly in length and could be used on rifles. Maybe the original units were great before they moved the manufacturing to China? Amazon's price for this kit is better than many places I found on the web but to me it was $21 for a rod only.

Small enough to carry in a pocket and forget about it so it's always there when you need it
Stuck casings are a pain to dislodge in the field and so is carrying a more traditional cleaning rod. Between the case and the folding mechanism, this is actually convenient enough to stick in your pocket, pack or range bag and just keep it with you in case you need it. I've used it a few times for one thing or another and it's great. I'm buying more of these to keep on hand.

Good Idea......kind of poor execution
This product seemed like a great idea for something to keep in the range bag. Upon receiving it I was a bit underwhelmed by the lack of sturdiness in the rod when fully extended and tightened. Overall it feels a little weaker than a $7 Hoppes 9 aluminum rod. This may work well for clearing a small amount of dirt out of a barrel in the field or doing basic gentle bore maintenance, but I highly doubt that this rod would hold up to clearing a stuck casing or bullet. A much better idea would be to have used nylon coated steel segments instead of the fragile aluminum. Additionally there is no place to put the included caliber specific bore jags in the included case, I see these getting lost in the field very quickly.

Must have tool on a hunt
I stumbled while hunting and jabbed my muzzle into the snow. That's a hazardous situation since the muzzle could be blocked. Fortunately, this tool saved a trip back to the truck. It took 2 minutes to assemble it, clear the barrel fold it back up and I was on my way again. If you don't want to carry a barrel rod, carry something like this.

Useful
Seems well made and comes with a pouch that you can attach to your belt, so you always have it with you. I've not needed to use it yet (better to have and not need, than to need and not have)
