We were making all our boards in the 1970's out of solid wood like Oak, Birch and exotic woods like Almond, Rosewood and Teak. Then the laminated boards came out, so we decided to call our laminated boards Dura-Lites. They were lighter than the solid boards and they were more durable than the standard solid wood boards available at the time. It just made sense to call them Dura for durability and Lite because they were lighter than the solid boards, so the name Dura-Lite was born. The functionality was a bit more advanced as well. These Dura Lites seemed more maneuverable and the larger, wider shapes proved very functional for ramp, bowl and pool riding. Dura Lites. The original. Review: Four Stars - Nostalgic and fun. Review: Logan Dura-Lite - I am a little disappointed that the deck has some concave. I was hoping for a true reproduction of this 77/78 vintage board.
