Max and Lilly has outdone itself!!
I really do love it when I actually get a great product from Amazon, and can truly leave an honest review, with actual hopes of being able to help someone make a decision regarding their purchase. I ordered the Max and Lilly High loft bed about four months ago. I knew I wanted to hold off leaving a review in order to really be able to test the product. I started the process of redecorating my daughters bedroom, from top to bottom, and the first thing on the agenda was to find a high loft bed that, 1. Came with storage shelves, 2. Came with a desk, and 3. Had a great price. I am happy to report that the Max and Lilly High loft bed hit the mark in each way. I searched and searched for the perfect high loft bed, I found plenty that came with a high price tag, at least 8 or 900 bucks, and all the more affordable ones didn’t look as good, or looked flimsy, had horrible reviews or didn’t have a desk but had shelves, didn’t have shelves but had a desk. This loft bed is super sturdy. My daughter has a thin frame, but her and her brother both sleep in this bed all the time. She also just had a sleep over and her and two girls all slept in this bed. I don’t sleep in this bed, but I have to get on it every day in order to make her bed, and I feel 100 confident while up there, that the bed is sturdy. The storage space is exactly what I was looking for. I haven’t decided exactly how I’m going to style the shelves, but what ever my little heart was to desire to put on them, I would have the space. The desk area is small, but it has enough space for a stylish lamp and clock. I am thinking about using one shelf for her desk organizer, pencil cups and paper trays, but not for sure yet. My daughter absolutely loves this bed so much. Ever since she has gotten her bed it has made her appreciate her room, I also find her spending more time at her desk, reading books, and doing little girly things. The only things I have to say about this bed negatively is 1. The ladder. I read some other reviews with the same complaint, saying it was cheap and not sturdy. I think if it would have been made to stand straight up, it would have been better. It hasn’t cracked or anything like that, but I remind the kids daily of what the reviews said and to just use it to hurry and get on or off the bed. 2. After my husband, finished putting the bed together we decided it would look better in a different spot. The bed is way to heavy and sturdy to move by yourself so him and a friend had to manually lift the bed up and move it. While doing so, the bed cracked a little at the top. I’m not sure what this says about the quality, or if it is a given that this would happen, but just letting you know. Personally, it doesn’t bother me, but like I said, I just stay on top of my kids about how it’s a “cheap” bed and we have to be careful with it. When I say cheap, I don’t mean like that, but technically speaking, it’s not a 1500 dollar Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel bed, but to me, it’s just as good. I spent 550 bucks and I don’t regret it one bit, not to mention my daughter is in lala land every night in her dream bedroom with her dream high loft bed. If you’re on a budget like me, but still desire the finer things, and like to hunt down just as good quality dupes, this is the route to go!!!!

Good quality bed; a semi detailed review!
This is a great bed for the price in my opinion. The bed is sturdy and doesn't wobble; make sure to take the extra time to tighten all the parts. That being said, I am 5 foot and 90 lbs. soaking wet. What may be sturdy for me might not be for you; I haven't tested someone larger on it yet.The one downside is the ladder is very small. Where you put your foot doesn't have a lot of surface area. I have yet to fall but I do have to pay pretty close attention when I go up and down. I almost immediately bought glow in the dark stars to put on the steps and side of the ladder so I can see where I'm going. Those help immensely and I recommend you do the same. I can imagine it's VERY easy to fall in the dark. You can choose whether the ladder is on the left or right, which is something that isn't made abundantly clear on the listing. HOWEVER, the wooden roll up supports under the bed are not long enough to cover the entirety of the bottom length wise. Whichever way you choose to have it be flush against, your ladder will need to be on the OPPOSITE side, because it won't have room to screw in. This is not made clear in the instructions. Learned that the hard way and it's just too much work to justify unscrewing.I would take the extra time and organize the screws and nails in piles with labels on which one they are. I almost used the wrong pieces multiple times, and that saved me a lot of time. This may also be why people ended up with wobbly beds; they might have used the wrong screws on certain parts because they are very similar. Just a guess. Took 6-7 hours to assemble but I'm not really good with following instructions and was tired from the airport. Also I'm not sure the listing made clear the dimensions of each of the shelves. It's 14.75 inches (height) x 15 (Tall) inches of storage space for each one.

Nice Quality, Tough Build
Please, for the love of all things holy, do not underestimate how tough it *could* be to put this thing together if you are not carpentry-inclined. It was soo tough for me to put together. I'm not real handy but I've put together a ton of furniture from Amazon. It would be very helpful to have another pair of hands available. Also, hopefully you have some sand paper, an electric screw driver, a rubber mallet, and preferably some wood glue handy.I had to actually sand many of the wooden dowels down and smash them into their holes. After that didn't quite do it (had the wrong sand paper) I then had to redrill the holes with my screw driver. Some of the slatting on the headboards also would be easier to hold in place with wood glue while you attach the base pieces on.Overall though, my daughter is totally in love with this new bed and so am I. Once you get it together and up, really make sure to tighten the bolts. Use the longer part of the L wrench to tighten, so you can get more grip on it. It will make the bed really sturdy.Height: I think our ceilings are 8 ft and this bed gives plenty of sleeping room up top, while also leaving so much space for my daughter underneath. She can stand almost straight under the bed, and she stands at 4'2ish.Performace: very sturdy, strong wood planks, nice paint job, functions as a great loft bed, great small overall footprint, predrilled holes could've been better, directions could've been better, wooden dowels could've been the right size.Overall, very happy with this purchase!!
